Disney to Change Passholder Blockout Dates?

They don't mention renewals in this promotion, so I'm thinking it might be more than buying new in this case, or they'll just match it. Just don't pay more than $559 for a Platinum Plus pass.

Disney has done this several times before for cast member blackouts. Last year they lifted several- that's an easy way for them to boost attendance.
Also last year they lifted the march 19-April 1 dates for Florida residents on the silver pass.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them lift passes again, as they've done in the past. Likely not for gold though- cast members and Florida residents (silver) are such a massive number that they can control crowds just with those dates.


If you renew your gold pass and then call or visit to upgrade to platinum plus, they do it at no charge. It's awesome. You might have to visit the park to get it done in person. Conflicting reports.

Same thing if you have a gold now- you can simply visit the park and they'll upgrade you.

It's not a huge deal if you weren't going to visit During the few blackout dates (Christmas and one week in march) or water parks. But hey- free is free.

Note: you must buy the pass by January 3, 2018. But you have until dec 31 2018 to activate.

Need to tell my daughter to renew her Gold Pass by October 1st, getting the monthly payment plan, upgrade to the DVC special offer and pay the difference between her renew and the $559, but keep the monthly payment for the Gold.

You can save further by bridging discounted tickets into AP from undercover tourist or others if you go before Jan 3rd. Planning on doing that this December.

Double note: they also have a 7 day pass for the price of 5- but what's unique is you have 6 months to use them after first use instead of the standard 14 days. So you could 3 days in December and the other 4 days in may.
