I wish other organizations or rich individuals would do this like pro athletes for instance or movie stars. If every pro athlete gave up say 3 % of their income to help in times like this it would be amazing. If say Shaq who makes somewhere around $25,000,000 a year (just salary, not endorsements) gave 3% of his salary you are talking $750,000 which he will not miss. I saw an interview with him about 2 years ago where he said he yet to spend a dime of his NBA salary. He lives off of his endorsement deals.
I know it is not his or any other athlete or movie star's obligation to do this but it is something that I think would give something back to the community.
Just to follow up. I just read on the Sentinal that the owner of the Orlando Magic donated 1 million to the Hurricane Charley Relief Fund. Maybe it will rub off on other sports people.
