Disney Springs Hotel Confusion

Hoping someone can help because after talking with two different cast members I am left totally confused. I am looking at booking at the Disney Springs DoubleTree Suites. The price, size of the room and the fact that they offer EMH and the ability to make FP at 60 days makes it a great option. However I am an annual passholder which is where the Disney Springs hotel gets confusing. I was told by one cast member that I can book a room only deal and be able to still take advantage of the Disney perks. When I went to book it however I was told I can only have the Disney perks if I purchase tickets--which I don't need with my AP.

Has anyone stayed at any of the Disney Springs hotel and gotten the EMH and 60 day FP perks without booking it as a package?

Someone on /reddit said they got the perks without a package just by putting their Hilton reservation confirmation in MDE...

Initially you needed a package, booked through Disney. It turned out this was because of incompatibility between reservation numbers, nothing more.

However now I believe the Disney system can now link any reservation number from the hotels to MDE. The last one to be added was the B Resort. So you can now book direct with each hotel.

However whether you need a package or not, I'm not sure. I would check with the hotel.

Not even close, even with discount.
Really? Because the value resorts (I understand those promotions are less generous then moderate or deluxe), are quite competitive on their own.

I'll have to check out that option and see if that makes sense for any of our future trips.

I booked at Doubletree for our July/August trip - direct through Hilton. No package. Put our res number into the My Disney Experience - waited about 36hrs - and there was my hotel in MDE. And we do get all the FP etc perks now...

That’s interesting - it always took Swan and Dolphin about 24-36 hours to show up in MDE too.

I recently checked for the end of April and the only Disney availability for a value was AoA at the discounted rate of $395 down from $448.
CB was $251 and CS $267 with discount. Would have made more sense to us to do one of those moderates.
DS hotels started at $94 and went up to $186.

Oh, and we even considered camping, but the only loop available was a preferred loop at the Sun and Fun deeply discounted rate of $143 down from the standard rate of, wait for it...$146. Not ever camping for $143 per night for a campsite where you have to bring your own room.

I finally got a direct answer from Disney after getting told multiple things from cast members and that I had to buy tickets. Looks like it can be booked with an AP. I think we will have to try it for our next trip. A bigger room at the cost of a value with the FP perks and EMH seems like a huge savings for us.

Here's what was said:
"Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort!
For 2018 arrivals, exciting new benefits staying at the DoubleTree Suites Hotel will include Extra Magic Hours access. Additionally, Guests who link their reservation and valid theme park ticket admission to their MyDisneyExperience account, will have the ability to make FastPass+ selections up to 60 days prior to arrival. Please not the reservation would need to be made with Disney Reservation Center to receive the magical extras. Extra Magic Hours vouchers are uniquely numbered cards issued to each person listed on a reservation at an Official Walt Disney World® Hotels. The voucher must be presented, along with a valid Theme Park ticket, for Extra Magic Hours access. The voucher is valid for the duration of the hotel reservation and is not transferable. You can contact Disney Reservation Center at 407-WDISNEY (407-934-7639) to book your room only reservation. We would also like to thank you for being a Walt Disney World® Annual Pass holder! "

Well, despite that, I have seen many people who booked direct with the DS hotels get both EMH and 60 day booking.

EMH is not an issue, won't be until the end of 2018 and we will see if they renew it.

We have seen evidence of those booking direct with the hotel NOT being able to have 60 day FP+ access. As usual, typical Disney inconsistency with systems.

But those problems, at least to begin with, were to do with the reservation numbers not being able to be linked into MDE.

The last resort to be sorted out was the B Resort; there are several people who have reported in the last month or so that they have been able to link their reservations and book FPs.

I understand. I hear you. We have had a mix - all can link to MDE - but some are refused FP+ at 60 days, some can book at 60 days. It's inconsistent is all I am saying.

I think you missed Nala's statement that it can be booked with an AP, meaning you don't have to buy tickets, meaning you don't have to get the package through Disney. The quoted text goes against that, but, the direct contact was that you can forgo the package and book and link direct.

I booked a Disney springs Hilton with hotel points a few months ago and was told I had to have a package through Disney to get 60 day fast passes. I recently called Disney again and this has changed. They kindly linked my hotel confirmation number and I was indeed able to make fast pass selections at the 60 day mark. Not saying I agree with this move Disney made but I am thankful to take advantage of it. We secured FOP and the other rides we were hoping for. Come on June!
