WDI is never going to say "hey this ride isn't safe" because if they did, they would stand to lose millions of dollars and even there jobs.

The risk of saying the ride "was safe" if they thought it wasn't would be far greater.

Disney determined the designers were not completing their job to spec, and took control themselves. I know I would much rather be on an attraction tested and certified by WDI than any other organisation.

So you'd rather have Disney test out your car instead of the engineers who designed the car? Whuh? I'd rather have the experts do it myself.

(Not saying that this is the case with Disney, just baffled by your last statement).

Steve said an attraction (something WDI has extensive knowledge in) not your car.

Uh... ok. I was down there the first 2 weeks this past DEC, and 60min and upwards, was not "unusual".
And yet... the attendance figures are disappointing... for a ride of this type...

Even if WDI has no experience in building a ride system of that kind? I'd much rather have the people who built the ride do all the inspecting themselves. WDI is never going to say "hey this ride isn't safe" because if they did, they would stand to lose millions of dollars and even there jobs.
Yes, they would actually... They would!!!... If the ride was really "unsafe"... (please, don't give that!)..

And don't tell us how people from Creative, can/will loose their jobs over this... The ride was tested as "SAFE"...

how many more deaths on MS do you think Disney can write off as "the guest's fault"? Believe it or not, Disney didn't let the designers complete their job.
BULL!!! (oops!)

How about if only a few people would die? Thats not "really unsafe" is it?

I'm 42 years old. I've been very active all my life. Jock in school and pretty much in shape. I had a MI when I was 40. They had to hit me twice with the paddles to bring me back. I didn't know I had a "Heart Problem". I've been on rides all my life from Disney, 6 Flags...etc. So as far as the sign goes, not all are aware of "Heart Problems". That sign is for the people who are aware they do have the troubles and a warning. Just like the poor boy, and maybe this poor woman had no idea. Either way, I do not blame Disney, nor the woman if in fact she had no idea of her health.
How many of the people posting on this site have had catherization of the heart, or Stress Test to see if they have blockage or muscle damage to the heart? Those are actually the only ways of knowing if you have a heart condition. And not 100% mind you.
Sad to say, it's a very hard loss for her family and friends. My prayers go with them in this time.

Yes, I had catherization of the heart almost 10 years ago...
And yet I rode M:S for the sandbagging... I couldn't blame it on Disney, if something bad would have happened... they warned me.. I still did it...

I think it's just as with the R.I.P. A:E... people should have read the warning signs.. there are more than enough of them in the waiting lines...

But she was german... you would say... (sounds harsh) she should have learned to read english...
You can't have warning signs in every different language...

I feel really sorry for her family, and they WILL be in my prayers, but if someone lacks reading warning signs... there's NOTHING you can do about it.

If they really read warning signs NOTHING would happen...

and BTW don't try to be sarcastic... It's not appriciated...

It seems kind of wierd that a death happen again on the same ride. Not to mention the many people complaining about headaches after they got off .This ride in my opinion needs to get scrapped or chnaged or something .I don't think they should ignore these problems .

Thousands upon thousands of people ride Mission: Space without incident. Everything you do in life is at your own risk. People die just crossing a street or from a bee sting. You just never know. These deaths are unfortunate, but it is not the ride that killed that boy, it was his heart condition. And I am sure this lady had some condition that put her at risk as well. There are many people who enjoy the ride, myself included, and I don't think Disney will shut it down.

I hate to tell you this, but people die on rides all across the country all the time, and they are almost never closed (at least for long).

The sad fact of the matter is this, if the lady died on this ride she probably would have died anyway. It's not as if she fell out of the ride or something of that matter, or if she was perfectly healthy and the ride killed her.

The ride isn't THAT intense...it's an overblown Gravitron...that's why people get sick..it spins. Spinning causes motion sickness (and there are AMPLE AMPLE warnings about this)

There are much more intense rides in WDW let alone everywhere else in the world. Going on any ride is a calculated risk whether it be Mission: Space or the Teacups there's a certain amount of danger involved, and seriously if you don't want the risk, don't ride.
