NTL Telewest has signed an agreement with Disney for carriage of its revamped channel porfolio.
The newly-merged cable operator is offering new movie channel Disney Cinemagic - launched today (March 16) - as a standalone premium service or as a free bonus to Sky Movies subscribers.
Mirroring the recent changes on Sky, The Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney have switched to become part of NTL's Family pack and Telewest's Supreme pack respectively. Toon Disney and Disney Channel's timeshift service have closed.
The agreement also covers VOD and broadband content, allowing the cable operator to offer customers Disney programmes such as Lilo & Stitch, Kim Possible, Book of Pooh and Lizzie McGuire.
"Disney is a world class brand and provider of high quality content," said Gidon Katz, director of content acquisition at NTL Telewest. "We're delighted to secure this cross-platform content agreement - the first for the combined cable company."
