News Disney Park Pass System announced for Walt Disney World theme park reservations

I remember in 2019 just rolling up whenever I wanted with the annual pass. I know this is the standard procedure for a while but I guess those days of spontaneity are gone forever.
I mean, it only takes a minute to get on the app and select which park you are about to go to anyway, and on the rare occasion that a park is out of reservation spaces then you at least know it was going to be busy anyway.

If you’re not a resort guest, you can only pick three or five days ahead of time in which you would care to visit a park. If you’re a resort guest, you have to make all of your Park reservations ahead of time and if there are multiple people in your party, you have to keep track of that.

It’s a system that serves no purpose Other than to add extra work for guests looking to enter the park when there has been no actual capacity impact…

Other than to weed out guests who may not spend as much.

Don’t most resort guests know which parks they are going to be in ahead of time?

I guess I just have a strange relationship with the parks but the reservation system has never bothered me and it blows my mind how worked up everyone gets about it.

I know ahead of time what park I’m going to. But sometimes I forget to make a reservation or forget to change my reservation when my kids or I decide to switch things up. So then we wind up holding up the line while the plaid people get us straightened out. It’s just stupid and unnecessary.

It’s a sham…there are absolutely ZERO days a year even close to “capacity”…

It’s that they always wanted reservations…used covid as an excuse…and now don’t want to give up the illusion it’s that in demand
A system in place so locals with APs do not crowd out higher margin visitors.

Then when the reservation and date based ticket algorithm says they’re going to come up short and they need locals it becomes a good to go day.

It’s another level of inconvenience in an already over complicated experience that serves as a demotivator for visiting. Most hospitality businesses want to make the experience easier and less stressful. Instead, you have a Park pass system, the adds unnecessary steps, has confusing, hopping rules, only applies on certain dates, and is completely not needed for its intended purpose of capacity

That’s the theory behind it…but it’s irrelevant

There just isn’t enough foot traffic where these theatrics make sense…

You of all people know this…as my fellow “watcher” with a memory and depth perception
