Hi guys. UK resident and planning first trip to USA September 2018 with older teenagers incorporating a week at Disney. Looking at the meal plans and considering the 2 self service meals 2 snack plan. Had a look at menus on here. Is there a cost limit per meal? Are they decent portion sizes ? Any hints tips or suggestions would be welcome . We are all sooooooo excited 😊 !

It sounds like you are looking at the Quick service dining plan, there is no cost limit per meal and since you won't be paying any tips you will want to spend as much as you can on every meal otherwise you may not break even.
You however are going in September there are loads of ways to get good value for your credits particularly snack credits as food and wine will be on at Epcot then, almost all of the snacks at the different country booths are snack credit eligible. The fillet mignon from Canada is an example of a good use money wise!
Also it is worth eating at Wolfgang puck express in the Marketplace at Disney Springs, it is counter service but the meals get brought to your table, the food is good there and you will feel like you are eating a more traditional table service meal.
Yeah portion sizes are large much bigger than the terrible food you get in Theme parks in this country!
If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

You can get the most expensive thing, but at QS places it doesn't vary too much. As a father of 3 now grown step kids, I know they can eat a ton, but QS portions are large. The tip by Jeff about food and wine is a great one! Another tip would be mobile ordering now includes the dining plans. Saves a ton of time waiting in line. Just make sure you work out your cell service ahead of time. There are plenty of UK experts here to help you.

Some other places where you get a lot of bang for your buck on the QS plan are Cosmic Rays in MK (try the chicken and ribs combo) or Flame Tree in AK (get the sampler).
