Disney needs Frequent Traveler Rewards Plan...

I think it's about time Disney came up with some sort of program that rewards guests who stay in the Disney resorts. Marriott, Hilton and even Comfort Inn (Choice Hotels) among many other chains have programs to reward the frequent traveler who stay with them.

I don't necessarily think that free stays would need to be part of the rewards (although it would be nice as would free upgrades to Concierge after a certain level or as a reward), but they could offer Disney dollars or merchandise based on a point system. If they did it like the others, those who book at rack rate get more points because they spend more money. Those using AP discounts would get less because their room is already discounted.

What do you think?

I agree, to some extent. Disney has little to no trouble getting people in the resorts, but they're hardly ever near capacity. Discounts to previous guests would help increase occupancy (and attendance at the parks, and profit, etc)

Here are some options:
- A heavy discount if you come back within a short period (say 6 months)
- Free theme park tickets after X nights
- Vouchers for free food at the resorts or DD or the parks
- Discounts for longer stays. If you stay for 4 nights, you get X percentage off. If you stay for 5, you get more. If you stay for 6, you get more. Etc. Weekend trips wouldn't be effected, but it may encourage people to stay an extra day.

I agree, but would rather see cheaper rates all around. Build it and they will come has not worked for WDW as far as the resorts. There are still a lot of people who visit WDW who can't afford "rack rates" on property especially during the summer, so they stay off-property, but Disney bites them with $8 parking fees. I like the Disney Dollars idea, it would be great to get D$ for the thousands of dollars I have spent on the 34 days of resort rooms since 1996.

I agree 100%. They should reward people who are loyal to Disney, the resorts and their product.

Free nights would be nice, but even free souveneirs, pins, etc, would be OK. Something to show Disney's appreciation for our loyalty.

Trying to think like Disney does these days about this. I would say that, if implemented, a Rewards program would be something like a free night, or free/discounted tickets into the parks. The bottom line for them would be not offering discounted rooms, but other ways to entice you to stay within the resort. Then you'll be more apt to spend more money; thus the idea about a free night or discounted park passes.

I totally agree with having some kind of rewards programs, I just don't see them doing it soon, as they already have the Disney Visa Rewards program in place. Another reward program could lead some to believe that Eisner and his ilk are being..... (gasp!).... too loose with the purse strings!!! Can't be having that, us shareholders will revolt about our short-term value decreasing but having long-term prospects increase. And we all know that short-term shareholder value is where it's at, right? :brick: :brick: :brick:

A frequent visitor reward would be great! Even a special pin or t-shirt or certificate (remember what they did during the 25th anniversary, when you could go to Guest Relations and get a pin that said when your first visit was? Those were fun!)

And darn, Corrus, I clicked on your link!! :brick:
