I'm not sure if this has been posted or not, so I apologize if this is a repeat thread. I did a search and didn't find anything, so I'm assuming it hasn't.
Well, those of you who are really fanatical better take out a loan!!

Pssst! Wanna buy a monorail?

Walt Disney World's preferred liquidator, Joe's Auction House, has put the front car of Mark IV Monorail Red up for auction on eBay (link). By late Sunday night, the bidding had risen to over $95,000, but the reserve price had not yet been met. The 15-ton, over 30-foot-long monorail car will be shipped by truck, with a crane to lift it onto and off of the truck. While the monorail car does include the pilot's cabin, the pilot (and track) are not included.

I forgot to mention that by the looks of it, this is an older model. It has the rows of chairs from door to door.

Michael Jackson should have saved his money - I'm sure he would be the top bidder if only his album sales had been a little better. Eee - heee!

I'm not placing my bid until Joe assures me that whenever I get off of my Monorail Red, I step onto The Polynesian, Contemporary, Grand Floridian or loading platforms to the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT gates!

I don't mind if you do a direct lift from my WDW Update over at MousePlanet, but if you do, please attribute your source. Thanks.

Does anyone know if this bid was finally closed at $95000 because I see it says reserve not met. To me, this would be something Michael Jackson would buy to put at Neverland. I wonder if that is really him as the highest bidder?

Well, when you sell on ebay, you pay a listing fee, a fee for extra things like a reserve price, then a commission based on the ending auction price. So that little auction had to cost him a cool bit of cash. Several hundred dollars at least. So it's not the kind of thing you'd want to do just for a lark.

I just wonder whether or not he actually did sell the item for that price or just took a loss on the listing fees.
