November 2 we were returning to the Magic berthed in Port Canaveral. Friends of ours in a group of 15 took the 8 pm bus and we took the 9 pm.
Our friends were on 528 (Bee Line) and were caught in traffic for a serious motor vehicle accident. A motorcycle rider died as a result and the road was closed for the accident investigation.
The traffic was unimaginable from all reports. Our bus driver had received the information and took a route just to the North of 528 which I didn't know existed.
Our friends were stuck in traffic for 5 hours. Our phone batteries were nearly exhausted and could no longer text.
That area of road had no other way to take side roads.
The drivers of the Mears and DCL buses made tremendous effort to safely get the busses turned West bound in the East bound lane when it was safe to do so.
When our bus made it to the ship we spoke to ship staff who met us with blankets for the children who were cold and opened Cabanas longer so people could get something to eat.
I later spoke to ship staff who said that as of 12:30 am over 800 passengers where affected by the accident.
My hat's off to the ship staff and officers and all other workers who gave up their time off to appear in the ship in regular clothes not uniforms to help receive passengers and make them comfortable after theirs hellish trip.
Once again Disney shined through.
