Disney haircut

We had my baby son's first haircut done there last Sept. It was a nice experience because it was his first and we did the package where you get first haircut ears that he has a keepsake now. However, if it wasn't for something special like that, I wouldn't plan it. They were behind (and from comments I heard it seems that is a common occurrence there) and also a bit slow doing the work. So we spent quite a bit of time there. Since it was a "special occasion" it wasn't a big deal to me but normally I would not want to spend valuable park time waiting around in a tiny cramped crowded barber shop getting a haircut you could easily get elsewhere before you start your trip.

Our daughter is turning 13 in a month and has still never gotten a haircut anywhere else. Ever since she was two and a half, it is where she gets her hair cut. Absolutely loves it. Generally, we don't make a reservation, we just stop in on our way out of the park (we almost always do morning and evening park time with rest at a resort in the afternoon) and if the wait is too long we postpone until another day. The times that we have made reservations (only twice, I think) we have made them for about an hour before a parade and while we wait for the parade, she gets a haircut - our favorite parade spot is right in front of the barbershop anyway!

Thanks for info. I was concerned about the wait time, don't want to spend that much time waiting for haircut and taking precious time away from enjoying the rides.

We usually go after 3 during our trips, and never have a hard time getting on the wait list, which is short most of the time.

My 14yo son made a special request with us to have his hair cut in WDW on our past trip in November. It was worth it to him.

My son (16 months at the time) had his first haircut there in December '15. We made a reservation and he was seated within 5 minutes of the reservation time. He loved it, the barber was great with him, and we got a baggie with pretty much all of his hair. We also stopped by for his 3rd haircut back in March '16. No reservation, we stopped by at about 9:30am and were told to come back at about 11:30am. We went and did some rides and walked around and returned at 11:30 for an immediate seating.

My nephew got his first haircut there. They gave him Mickey ears that said First Haircut. It was a great experience and he's the only one out of the 4 grandkids that had it done. He's 10 now so it was some time ago but I say go for it. It's something special for anyone at any age. We went first thing in the morning and didn't wait at all.

Has anyone taken advantage of the barber shop on Main Street. Thinking about making a reservation for Feb.

Yup, got to use them last Tuesday night at the Christmas party. Me and my two sons, actually right before the party. They were great! And our cuts were 10 min tops, worked us in too! Great staff!

We did on a whim for my twin boys. Happened to call on a Saturday and we could get in first thing on Monday. It was a great experience and when they went it was $15 each (in 2014) so not too bad seeing that is what we pay at home. I think the barbers in there are staples and were the same faces i remember from one of the Disney planning videos. If you do go to the barber make sure you check out the stable right next door where they keep the white horse -- it was amazing to look in there and see all the little mickey's and how well maintained everything is in there. I would definitely do it if you have the time.

We have walked in a few times, my son and I have gotten 3 or 4 each. They usually offer my daughter sprinkles for her hair too for being patient while the boys get fixed up. A nice break and very entertaining if it fits your schedule!

I read the description of the barber shop on the Disney site, and it just had 3 items. Baby's first haircut, child's cut and adult cut. Stupid question I'm sure, but is that all they do? No old timey shaves? Asking for husband
