Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

Can anyone believe Disney spent time and money on 'Audio Experiences' as a paid perk in 2021??

goes to Genie+, clicks play on Magic Kingdom Audio Experience

Chapek: This used to be swamp or something. But Walt made it magical, I guess. He used to walk down Main Street before the park opened. Or was that the other one? Eh.

Magic Kingdom Audio Experience ends

In a DAS FAQ on the official Disney site, the company states, "If Disney determines that any of the statements a Guest made in the process of obtaining DAS are not true, the Guest will be permanently barred from entering Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, and any previously purchased annual passes, Magic Key passes, tickets and other park products and services will be forfeited and not refunded."

so even though they aren’t allowed to ask for proof, people will probabaly want to provide out of fear of getting banned if Disney doesn’t deem them worthy

At $15/day, isn't almost everyone going to buy this? Which either means it will be very hard to make additional reservations after your first one or two, or standby lines will be really rough. (Or maybe both, LOL.)
Pretty sure that's the plan. It'll keep everyone buying it.

Yeah but there’s no way they can determine if someone is truly disabled or not without getting sued so that point is moot. Get ready for more rampant abuse.

No Genie
  • Show up, get in standby lines

Genie
  • The app that will plan your day 'for free' by guiding you to your preferred attractions (standby lines) throughout the day.

Genie+$
  • Costs $15 per day per guest for day tickets. APs get it for free.
  • Access to Lightning Lanes (LLs), which are available one at a time throughout the day.
  • Schedules your LLs like Maxpass in DL or the old paper passes.
  • Shows you the next available scheduling slot for a slew of rides and you pick one, and show up at the time.
  • Once you show up for your LL, you can pick your next LL scheduled slot.
  • All guests can schedule their first LL at 7a.

Genie+Lightning Lanes $elect Experience (LL$)
  • Buy up to two "fastpasses" for select rides, which are most likely the old Tier 1, but which ones will be in this list is not fully known.
  • Disney Resort Guests can purchase LL$ at 7a day-of. Non-resort-guests have to wait until they get into the park.

Virtual Queues
  • Don't know if they'll be under Genie or not.
  • RotR and Rat will have them.
  • If you miss the VG lottery:
    • These attractions could possibly wind up with standby lines on slow days, or,
    • if you buy Genie+$ for the day, then you may be able to buy a LL$ for it.
but how long will standbys still be around , I think they are moving in a direction to rid of them, if not all, then certainly the many.. thats what this feels like,,eventually requiring you to pay to ride anything. will see how far they go with this, right now it all sounds like a big mess thanks to a greedy out of control ceo.

I'm surprised there arn't more Robin Williams comments in here about how upset he'd be or something. There was a few in the other thread.

If this is a one at a time reservation, what is the advantage of the 7am booking time for onsite guests? I wouldn't be able to reserve an attraction at a peak time, because that will limit and successive reservations until after that reservation has been used.

The idea would be to start using the lighting service and get the earliest reservation possible, to maximize the amount that can be used? Similiar to the 4th fast pass idea. Am I missing something?

40% of guests will come and go without having any clue whatsoever that this exists.

This isn't 2000.

Disney loves to rave about MaxPass attach rates because they broke that old model about low user-adoption. With self-service in the app.. buy anytime.. just add your credit card.. it's low friction and low price. Everyone buys it because no one wants to be without any FPs.

That's why people said it's basically a ticket price increase... because it's true, virtually everyone will pay. Maybe not on day one, but by day 2? It's gonna happen.

Literally for the price of buying everyone a stupid ice cream bar you'll be in shorter lines for the day.

Make it rain Bob... Make it rain.
