Disney Engagements...

I was looking around and found the Disney Engagement site and I was reading the different options they have and I was just wondering what the cost of this was? I plan to surprise my girlfriend on our next trip (will be dating for 5 years by then) and I'm not sure if I want to go with a Disney pre-planned theme or try and think of something on my own. I was thinking of hiring someone who always posts pics of WDW and is a local to be there to catch as many shots (maybe even video) as possible for family to see but other then that, I'm not sure what I want right now lol.

I know i've read a lot of stories on here of people doing the Disney option at The Crystal Palace but sometimes they will have 2 or 3 right behind each other and IMO, thats not too magical. I definitely want to do it by the castle but i'm not sure when or how yet.

My plan was to propose in front of the castle after getting a photo pass picture. However recently my girlfriend made the comment "I don't want to be proposed to in public." She can be shy at times. So that changed my original plan. Instead since we are staying on the boardwalk I've decided to propose under the gazebo at night with possibly my parents sneaking around to snap a few pictures. For me it came down to her personality and wishes.

Sounds like my girlfriend too, shes kinda shy but she knows I'm not lol. She already told me when the time comes for the purposal she won't be surprised if I make it a big elaborate event lol. My only problem is Im at a lost right now on what to do. My girlfriend keeps watching these disney purposal videos on YouTube and I'm like, "that's an awesome idea, to bad she just watched someone else do it" lol.

Make sure you try to mix in something she absolutely loves. If you're going to do it at Disney, she must have a favorite character or movie, no? If she's shy I think intimate proposals are way more romantic. You see too many posts and videos of people taking a photo pass picture in front of the castle, then the guy pulling the ring out and doing it right there. Not that its not cute or anything..but I feel like a lot of people expect that already. You can always out-do yourself AND keep it personal between you two; maybe think of a way to pop the question early in the morning, be blissful all through the afternoon, go to a nice dinner in the evening and when you get to the room have rose petals and some champagne waiting.
All the bells and whistles that Disney has to offer for engagements is nice but as a woman I'd be much more pleased with something more personal. Good luck!

& @mustang_man_25 I love the plan with the gazebo! So cute.

The Dining proposals can be pretty expensive, for example the Cinderella's Table engagement is over $200,and some of the other ideas they had on there can go way beyond that.If you are looking for a private spot near the castle, try the wishing well, Its semi-secluded9(not a whole ton of people going past there) and offers a good view of the hub area.
I am currently trying to plan out my proposal right now. I am stuck between three ideas right now:1. Make out a sign asking her to marry me that i can keep hidden till I hold it up for the camera on Splash Mountain(her favorite ride). 2. Head over to Fort Wilderness and take a carriage ride($45 last i checked) or 3. Getting out onto the beach at Grand Floridian or the Poly and pooping the question during Wishes.

All 3 are great ideas. I think it all depends on what mood you want to set. If you go with one, it'll be more fun, spontaneous, and a big surprize! Two is more romantic and private. Three is also pretty romantic and also kind of a classic way. IMHO, 1 and 2 are very cute and worth considering, and you can always take her to the Poly or GF for fireworks the same night. It all depends on the lucky lady and what you think she'll enjoy most! Good luck! :)

My wife and i got engaged in front of the castle just after the daytime parade. There were a lot of people around. We even got some advice from strangers. We did not hire anyone to take pics. We were just waiting for people to clear out, she turned around, and I got on one knee. She had no idea.

And to bfox1183 - Splash Mountain would be awesome! Especially if she didnt notice until seeing the pic after the ride.

On our last trip, we saw a proposal shortly after it happened in the rose garden at MK. It was a more private area, and my mom & I were only heading down there because we wanted a quiet place for DD to nap in her stroller. We walked down and realized the couple had just gotten engaged. So we congratulated them & left, so we didn't intrude on their time together. Her family was there as well, and she was crying. A Photopass Photographer was there to snap some pictures, but then left, so I'm not sure if that was part of a package or if they just convinced one to walk down there for a picture and then he proposed. Either way, it was a quiet area near the castle that is beautiful! Just to throw another idea in the mix.

DH & I watch the fireworks from the Poly beach all the way to the left, closer to GF. It's generally very uncrowded, although you can't hear the music piped in that far down. Still, if I was getting engaged again, that's where I would pick since it's a nostalgic place for me. :)

Love all your ideas - let us know what you decide to do!!

I like the idea of incorporating something she especially like in disney. Example: Beauty and the beast is my favorite movie. If my bf ever proposed to me in the west wing at Be Our Guest id freak out.
So maybe if she likes Peter Pan a lot you could do it on peter pans flight. Just you two on the ride and intimate.
You get the idea.
Possibly find out her favorite disney movie and play off that.

I was proposed to in front of the castle, it was a complete surprise as I was not expecting it, especially infromt of people! However it did not bother me that people were looking on. I loved the fact it was infromt of a photo pass person so I have photos of the moment and I could share it with our families back home :)
