Hey everyone, I have been trying to get my parents to go on a DCL cruise for ages, since mainly we are avid cruises. I've been on 16 in all, and am a Platinum Member on Royal Caribbean and a member of the Captain's Circle on Princess Cruise Lines even though i'm only 15:D ! Well anyways, the folks complain they dont want to take DCL because it doesnt have a casino and all and not much adult stuff to do like on RCL, Carnival, and Princess. And the question I ask is-"Then why in the world are we annual passholders?" And they both love WDW too, so I dont know what their problem is. So what is there really to do on DCL? How can I get them to take one?

Let the folks know that a three and four day takes them to the Bahamas, home of Atlantis Resort and Casino. Also that Disney has great teen programs and they won't see you. I'm kinda the opposite of you, I've only been on DCL. My only other images are from TV shows like Shipmates and Love Boat. I do know that your a member of the Captains Circle on DCL after your second. Been there. Hmm, as a parent I know their thinking cost. I would start with travel brochures and videos. Disney website has a link for the free video and any decent travel agent should have a boatload of brochures. :Fingers crossed:

there was an hour show on the other night on travel channel about DCL....and it had all the info about the "adult" stuff your parents would be looking for. Did you request one of the vacation vidoes? thats got all the info too, when i wanted to go on it with my parents i requested the video and info to be sent to the house....to get my point across that i wanted to go on it!! so look on travel channels website to see if its going to be on again.....the names of it was Disne Cruise Line so it should be easy to find!!

I absolutely loved the cruise, hope your able to go on it too!!

DCL is a must cruise choice for any Disney enthusiast!! My Wife and I just went on the 3 day a couple of months ago, I'm in the US Air Force so after returning home from Iraqi Freedom... we decided to book a romantic trip. Our 12 year old son happened to be with my parents for the summer, and he would have loved the cruise too.

I think anyone who enjoys the food, shows, quality service, cleanliness and many extras that disney theme parks offer... one would be just as pleased with the same attention provided with DCL.

True they don't offer gambling, but compared to the lounges and shows who needs it... It's the Disney experience that they are missing out on...

I have been on the 4 & 7 day cruises with my parents. We much prefer the 7 day cruise. There are numerous adult activities on the ship. My Mom & I went to cooking demo classes where we go to taste what was made along with a paired wine or champaign. My Dad & I went to a wine tasting (extra fee). We went to a seminar on shopping at the ports (freebies!!!), we went on a tour of the bridge & galley. We went to seminars on the Disney Entertainment Dept-saw a great buch of audition clips. Then there are the shows and the night clubs. There is so much to do!

I suggest you go get the Disney Cruise Line Passporter Book
for your folks.
It will detail all the great things there are to do for Adults and Children alike on a Disney Cruise.

The Disney Cruise is made for FAMILIES - that includes Adults! There are lots of activities exclusively for kids, which leaves the adults time for their own activites together.

While you are off having your fun, your folks could head off to the Ship's SPA area and relax with a massage or sauna, etc. There are plenty of night time activities for adults, with 3 nightclubs on the ship!

There is also an Adults-only restaurant on the ship called PALO,
to assure them a nice quiet evening alone.

There is even an Adult's Beach on Castaway Cay far away from the much noiser family beach if that's what they are looking for!

If your folks need their "gambling fix", they can get plenty of that too when the ship docks at many of the ports. Most notably, we enjoyed gambling at the beautiful Atlantis Casino in the Bahamas while we were on the Disney Cruise.

As I said earlier....get the Passporter Book so they can see for themselves all the great things there are to do for Adults on a Disney Cruise!

GOOD LUCK!

I've been on many cruises also. I love them all. I was upset also when I found out about the casino not being there but I have to tell you I didn't even miss it. I've also, on the other cruises, never even ended up in the casino. We love the adult pool (fresh water) and the spas are great and the 7 day offers so many things to do on shore. We went on the 4 day first, and we never even saw the kids!!! We wouldn't even have known there were so many kids on the cruise!!! We (as adults w/ adult children) traveled in totally different circles as the families and never really even knew how many kids were on board. It's a beautiful ship and they should try it at least once. There are many activities and great shows. And where going for a week in December, can't wait to go sailing with them again!!!!

Thanks a lot to you all, I just ordered the vacation video. I also took a look at many of the things to do, and it looks wonderful. I also told them a bit about what you guys said. I hope this convinces them, and thanks a bunch!
