Has anyone taken a Disney Cruise Honeymoon?

Our wedding is next september and we are planning to spend probably five days in WDW and then (either before or after) take a cruise. Likely a long one. I was wondering is the Disney Cruise a good choice. I have heard rumors that Goofy likes to bang on doors to wake people up early in the morning and I don't know if that is what I want.

Any thought?

Also I am a huge huge huge Disney-a-holic but my groom to be isn't. He likes it but isn't super crazy

We got married in September of 2002, did 5 days in WDW, then did the 7-night cruise. It was definitely a great choice. We had never been on a cruise before, but we both had a terrific time. Goofy DID NOT ever bang on doors to wake anyone up and I find it hard to believe (for guest service reasons) that that's the case. As a Disney fan, you'll love it, but honestly I didn't think it was over the top and I suspect your groom will enjoy it too. I would definitely recommend it!

Good idea....plus if they know its your honeymoon they will treat you a bit different then the families with kids...

We had no major issues feeling we were out of place without kids...I will say that both me and my wife are huge Disney fans so that didnt hurt. But there are plenty of adult only areas, an adults only pool, restaurant and of course the spa. Plus there is even an adults only beach on the private island Castaway Cay.

If your fiance is willing to visit WDW for part of your Honeymoon then I would say he would feel comfortable on the cruise. Yes its family oriented and yes there are alot of kid realted things but I think you will be pleased with the quality and level of service, etc, that you would expect from Disney.

Only downside for some if they have been on cruises before is that there is no casino on the ship....but it has everything else.

If I could also recommend a great book for couples who visit WDW...its been an great tool for us. See attached link...well worth the money.

Congrats and good luck.

On top of this thought has anyone put off their honeymoon until some time (like a month) after their wedding?
There are no seven day disney cruises that are going out right after September 13.

Any thoughts

Aside from the no-gambling aspect, I found the Disney Cruise to be refreshingly un-Disney

The level of service is there, the quality is there, but it is not "in your face" Disney. There are a few character meets, but they are not all over the place. There are little Disney touches worked into the fittings and decorations, but they are subtile and not "cartoony". As adults on a Disney cruise it would be very easy to forget that you are on a Disney cruise (in a good way)

Disney makes a specific effort on its Cruise offerings to provide SEPERATE entertainment and services for adults without kids, adults with kids, and kids by themselves, and they do quite a good job of it.

Oh, and ....

Goofy must assuredly does not bang on your door, nor does anybody else. :)

My husband and I were married on June 29 and postponed our honeymoon until October. We had abetter feel for finances and we weren't dealing with the 4th of July crowds at WDW. When we went a few years before over the 4th we had fun but it was not the setting we wanted for our honeymoon. We stayed at a local bed and breakfast the night of the 29th and the 30th, and had a wonderful mini-honeymoon.

My sister and her husband waited a week after their wedding to leave for their honeymoon. He had just started a new job and couldn't get away til then. My husband and I did 7 days at a resort in Jamaica and then finished with 3 days at WDW. Their was no Disney cruise then and only the MK and EPCOT Center and the Disney Village Marketplace to visit. (We celebrated our 23 anniversary in September.) My husband is not into Disney as much as I but he loved the honeymoon, romance followed by just plain fun.
