I’m confused, are they wasting money to paint the guitar right now and then close down the whole ride within the next year or so to do the Muppets retheme?

Likely either means the guitar is staying post Muppets so repainting it now just is part of that ....

... OR the change to Muppets sn't planned to happen for years at which point it will need to be painted again ...

... OR the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is a doing/nothing official is set for the changeover so regular maintenance not impacted even if it should be

1. Could be if this is the case it’s Disney choosing show quality over what makes the most practical sense so that’s good 2. I hope it’s not this one 3. It’s probably this one combined with the first one.

Would not be surprising, though that's pretty bad if true, lets not forget they replaced the carpet in Universe of Energy shortly before it closed, if I remember right.

It’s not really “bad”, and I’m not sure it’s even accurate to say the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. It’s more that the right hand continues going about its business because the left can’t be blindly relied upon to follow the exact schedule it initially indicated it would follow. The maintenance has been scheduled and the funds for it set aside. If they cancel because they expect something to happen that then falls through, they likely have to re-secure funding and adjust the maintenance calendar again to allocate necessary personnel.

I’d love to see a fleet of Muppet AA’s added to the preshow, but I kind of doubt that’s in the budget for this project. Although even a single Kermit AA interacting with the band on screen behind him would be a great addition

My bet. Kermit AA in the preshow and statler and wardoff are moved to above the launch tunnel.

That could be fun

Statler: so do you don't like feeling g forces?

Waldorf: well, gee, I was forced to be here

Hahahhahah

Waldorf: guess time to countdown to the launch again

Statler: launch? I thought it was lunch... Now what am I supposed to do with my picnic basket?

Waldorf: suppose you could give it to the bear

Statler: well, that's one way to lose my lunch

Hahahhahah

I’m guessing that the exterior will remain almost completely identical, with a new paint job being thrown on the car outside to match the roller coaster train inside.

The only change I can imagine is the guitar possibly becoming a different color, but I don’t really see that happening even. Aerosmith isn’t really a big part of the theming, you change the preshow and you would’ve never known it was Aerosmith.

Perhaps I’m underplaying how big of a role Aerosmith has in the attraction, but even the gift shop isn’t Aerosmith now I think. One of the rare cases where not doing much of anything is not only the most economical option, but also probably the better option overall.

No
I am on board with this change. As far as the previous version not really being Disney, well what is Disney? If being Disney at the theme parks means shoving a cartoon character in our face for every attraction across all 4 parks because Disney thinks we don't have the mental capacity to enjoy something otherwise...well....I will pass on that.
Disney is not all about cartoons. I grew up watching the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights. Almost no cartoons. Don't get me wrong, I love rock - especially 80s (my high school and college years). But, Aerosmith to me just is not a style of music I would expect to hear in any Disney film - animated or not.
