Disney coaster named 'Best of the Best'

It is like riding in a warehouse I will give you that, but it is a nice coaster for people who can't handle the big boys in the park. If you are a hard core coaster fan, it probably is not a thrill. But for us who are afraid of heights but like some speed it does the trick..
Good point. I remember when they were first opening it and the commercials made it seem like you were going to take a one-way trip through hell on a train created from your worst nightmares. And it's exactly like riding in circles through an empty warehouse.

Although I enjoy the coaster of MGM Studios to no end, I find others far more entertaining. Space Mountain is a much better ride on a whole series of levels. The launch of RnR is cool, but everything after that is pretty boring.

BTW- Deja Vu at Great America is a coaster that is great enough to either cure you of rollercoaster fears- or break your spirit so you can never look at life the same way again.

To note. I have ridden both Space Mountain and Rock N Rollercoaster probably over 100 times each. I really enjoy both.

I'll rate all the indoor coasters I have been on. Each will be rated out of 5 starts.

Rock N Rollercoaster: ***** : Despite being a short ride, the advanced enclosed design and tight turns make it really good. The scenery and music really help explain. A CM/Imagineer (I didn't know what Imagineer badges looked like back then) explained every road you travel through on the ride. You can actually drive the Rock N Rollercoaster over in California.

Space Mountain: ***** : 29 years of operation and this ride still rocks. Though people compare this one to the Matterhorn, the track design on Space Mountain is far superior and advanced. I really love this ride.

The Mummy: **** : Good ride. Good dark ride scenes and a good coaster section. Even though this ride is pretty long timewise, it feels very short. A confusing story does not help. But great theming.

Outer Limits: **** : It used to be my Favorite Rollercoaster along with a few others until I returned to WDW in 2000. There is a neat story and such but the track design is quite inferior to RNRCs. OuterLimit has more of a go through 3 inversions then make your way down to the bottom feel. RnRC, however, has a more advance design which consists of many curved hills and is more balanced towards the bottom.

Disaster Transport: *** : Bobsled coasters Rock. It isn't much but the line makes it worth it. Of course the ride is very confusing but oh well.

i think RnRC is great! it was my very first one, so i'm probably a little biased.

anywhoo...i think one interesting thing about the ride is that (at least to my knowledge) it's one of the only rides that is themed around a rock group. that's what makes it different. :king:

but i do agree that it's way too short of a ride.

Good. Rock N' Rollercoaster is my favorite coaster of all time. That and Deja Vu has made me a fan of Vekoma. *stares at Everest*
Anyway, the ride is finally earning the respect is deserves.

A FAN of Vekoma? Please don't say that, you might give those people an idea they actually makes coasters that don't "headbang". :brick: :brick:

I enjoy RnRC, but take out all the Disney elements and it's another crappy Vekoma headbanging machine IMNSHO.

Deja Vu - the one at Magic Mountain? Magically I've never seen that ride open. It's deja vu every time you visit the park, it's closed!

I agree with the general comment that it's a great ride, just too short.

yeh, i second that. just as my eyes are getting watery, it is pulling in the station. i dont know why that is the only coaster my eyes water a bunch on it. huh

What other Golden Ticket Awards were handed out?

Also, Flight of Fear at PKI is a pretty good ride, but I am looking forward to RNRC for comparison.

Going to PKI tonite to get my 2005 Gold Season Pass = w00t

Well I have learned that if you do hold your head back on on even Arrow coasters the ride appears pretty smooth.

But anyway, the Deja Vu I rode was at Six Flags Great America. Basically the ride stays closed forever until the last few months of the year. I was lucky one night though. The ride was closed all day and at night it finally opened. I think it also had only a 20 minute wait. (park was not open that day).

But Deja Vu is pretty awsome and it was worth it being closed for so long.

Another thing about Vekoma, Everest will be dubuting 1-2 years from now and that will feature new technology to keep the ride smooth. If you have not noticed, Vekoma has been working hard to fix all their old rides so they can ride smooth. (their new superpadded trains are awsome looking).

Of course I dislike a lot of their rides like their other shuttle coasters and the SLC but Rock N Rollercoaster and Deja Vu are both so good it cancels that out.

Glad to RnRC get an award as I luurrve the ride but I also feel it could be a bit longer. That said the theming, music and the ride combined are great, a visit to MGM isn't complete without riding it.

RNRC is the only coaster I know that has 6 speakers per seat. Disney does it again! Congrats on the award!

P.S. Coincedence where that HinunterZuNich guy lives... the same distance away as me...

If RnRC in Florida won an award, I imagine that it was just an award for those coasters in the USA?? IMHO, the version in Paris is much better.

Fair enough, the preshow has no theming (you're riding a Rollercoaster 'designed' by Aerosmith apparently), you seem to have the same sound every ride and no tacky neon cut-outs during the ride (disco intellilights instead), but the ride is THE BEST that I have ever been on.

I got the front of the coaster both times I rode it and was absolutely blown away both times - It's like floating on a cloud, no bumps, jerks, etc. For the first 15 seconds or so after launch, you don't know which way is up and it actually feels like the ceiling could actually be the floor!

The harness was comfortable (It didn't tighten on me during the ride and stayed a bit loose so I got plenty of airtime) and my glasses remained on me without moving (although I would not recommend that everyone tries this - my glasses were designed to stay put!) Go try it if you can!

Hmmmm, it's a good coaster and all but I've been on better as well.

In my personal opinion, California Screamin' is a lot more fun. If they could just make that launch the same as Rock 'n Rollercoaster, CS would be perfect. CS's launch is a little less intense. :)

Winning the best indoor coaster should be about as prestigious as winning the Best Outdoor Dark Ride.

I'm kidding, of course, but really how many indoor roller coasters are there in the US? I'm curious to know if any amusement parks actually have indoor coasters.

 I was thinking the exact same thing! I LOVE Rockin' Rollercoaster, but it's not like it's up against a hundred other coasters in this category. Plus, people keep mentioning how terrible they consider some of the other indoor coasters to be. If that's true, that really makes this honor even LESS prestigious, doesn't it?
