Should Disney have made Snow - No, but you can make a list of movies they should not have made.
Will Snow make 1B - No
Will Snow break even - I think it will break even or make a little given the access media numbers. And really that's all Disney wants out of this at this point.

NOTE: The real numbers to make Snow with the reshoots and the actual cost to market is unknown.
It doesn’t matter what the real numbers are. The access media just needs to be able to spin some type of success story. Maybe they will trumpet about how it makes more than the 1937 film as if inflation doesn’t exist.

To be fair, the first poster who brought up Meryl Streep was creating and attacking a straw man. As one might expect, this caused a dust up. The bottom line is that no one is saying Gal Gadot is the next Meryl Streep and no one is saying Rachel Zegler is the next Meryl Streep. Everyone seems to be in agreement with that.
Exactly. I didn’t mean to say otherwise. It wasn’t so much a straw man though because he wasn’t making an actual comparison.

At this point no one knows if it’s spin or the movie is actually good.

Good point - this will absolutely happen! So for Disney, mission accomplished!!!

Maybe one of the CGI dwarves will surprise us and be the next Meryl Streep.

People: No one cares about what celebrities say

Same people: can you believe the awful comments from Rachel Zegler

Personally I find the whole thing ridiculous..
I don't think that's really a fair assessment. From my observation, and my own opinion. When people say they don't care what celebrities say, they don't want hear them preaching to us. Things like, their political views, environmental stuff, the economy... Not many want to hear about the environment or the cost of groceries from people flying around on private jets making millions.

Zegler insulted millions upon millions of people with a hateful comment. Did she apologize? Sure. But she specifically targeted an extremely large group of people. Of course there was going to be a very large backlash. Sure it's her opinion but come on, she walked up to the line and then took a running jump past it. So yea, people are going to talk about it.

She may have insulted millions upon millions of people but the backlash is only from a small percentage of them - the ones who both heard and care.

I really don’t think so. It has to be further narrowed by the number who planned to see the movie in the first place. It’s older IP so it’s not like Mermaid or Lion King where people grew up with it.
So if it has a more narrow audience why did Disney spend so much money on it?

I’m just trying to make sense of your theories.

But will Rachel Zegler be the next Gal Gadot?? That's the question that needs to be answered.

Yes but if it’s not a good move it’s important to have a built in excuse for its failure.
And yet if its a well reviewed movie that does well there will be excuses made by the other side as well, such as "paid reviews" and "people just saw it because of nostalgia" and any other number of excuses I've seen thrown around here for years when a Disney movie does well.
