It may not do anything to move the box office needle (or it may) but the reviews so far for Snow White have been pretty solid.

The critics in the article reviewed the movie and they liked it quite a bit They don't worry about the returns as much as you do apparently. Sorry if that doesn't fit your narrative.

I don't have a narrative. I am the one who posting this film has a shot at breaking even when many do not think so.

Early first reactions are almost always positive, I'd wait for the actual review embargo to lift.
That being said, I would love nothing more than for the movie to actually be good. I don't LIKE watching bad movies and would love to be happily surprised/proven wrong about this.

She only needs to release a TikTok saying "Sorry you guys were offended!"? You wouldn't try to quantify how badly that idiotic behavior by your employee damaged your company's brand and product line she was representing? I would.
At the very least, I would place her on an immediate leave of absence while I tried to assess how bad the damage was that she had caused to the company's sales and the brand image. Because there's a lot of other employees who don't do idiotic TikTok stunts who are depending on working for a profitable company to support their families.
I'd imagine within two weeks time I'd have made that assessment, had my T's crossed by HR and my I's dotted by Legal, and she wouldn't be working for my company after that kind of bizarrely idiotic public stunt.
I saw that too. Apparently that oddly specific number of $269,400,000 is from the British tax documents from 2023, as reported by Forbes, and is before the $55 Million rebate check from the British government is backed out of the total. Which brings the production cost down to a post-rebate amount of $214 Million as of late 2023.
Yet that was before Snow White was shelved for over a year to undergo rewrites and post-production reworking. If I were to guess, I'd imagine they tacked on at least another $25 Million, if not $50 Million, in the past 14 months of work. After the British rebate check, I'd guess the total for Snow White will come in around $250 Million.
Apparently, we won't know that final amount until the tax paperwork is filed and released publicly in the UK, later this year.

I didn’t realize the remakes have done so well internationally, I was calculating international as just slightly more than domestic. If it ends up being a 2x multiplier I may have to revise back to $450m.
I was thinking $150m domestic and $200m international. $150m and $300m makes break even a lot more likely.

I just made a hostess gift out of a rustic wicker basket and some potted flowering clovers, to avoid showing up at my Corned Beef N' Soda Bread dinner party tonight and handing the hostess yet another bottle of Jameson.
While we await the box office debut for Rachel Zegler's Snow White, it's probably a good time to begin wrapping up the box office for Captain America 4. The first pass at overseas box office from this past weekend is just in, and it's clear now that the overseas and domestic box office numbers are about to flatline. Captain America 4 is now coasting in on fumes.
Here's how that looks compared to the previous 3 Marvel tentpoles, and how it looks for profitability, or lack thereof.
Hey, at least it's better than The Marvels!

Hi everyone! Just emerged from the Internet cocoon of a Disney cruise so still catching up on things. I saw there’s an A24 film called Opus coming out according to this list, and imagine my surprise and dismay at learning it was not an art house feature based on the breakout star of Bloom CountyTracking still has it between $60-$70M opening, which is what Cinderella did 10 years ago and that went on to making $542M WW.

So we'll see, but I don't know if the "Irvine Spectrum Pre-sales metric" is anything more than an interesting look at that particular theater.

Some of you all are treating this as if she is a regular full time employee of TWDC like a Parks CM, she is not. She is a actor who was contracted for a project, she does not work full time for TWDC. Also it was a project that had already completed its production by the time all of this took place. There is no "leave of absence", as she is not employed by the TWDC beyond any further obligations for the movie like publicity.
So beyond Disney limiting any press obligations, or not bringing her back for another project in the future, there is little they can do other than to ask her to apologize which she already did within hours of it occurring.
If it wasn't for the constant news cycle all of this would have likely been forgotten already. As the kids say, some of you need to touch grass.

Just FYI, it wasn't on TikTok, it was on Instagram.That's a valid point, and it's where it gets tricky. I think we can all agree that if a Jungle Cruise Skipper started his launch off from the dock and turned to his boatload of tourists and said what Rachel Zegler said on TikTok, that kid would be fired and thrown out on to Harbor Blvd. by the time he returned from his second trip.
I think many of us are just dumbfounded that Rachel Zegler, who sells her skills to a broad American audience, would be such an idiot as to go on TikTok (or that planned union protest she made questionable comments about Disney at) and say the things she said out loud. It's baffling, but at least it's also given us a few chuckles.
Also she is not infallible, she is 23. I know plenty of 23 year olds who make worse mistakes and are forgiven with a snap of a finger. I personally have known people in their 60s that have lost companies Millions and said the most vile things and are still employed. We live in an imperfect world.
Despite the mistakes, I think she has handled the criticism and constant barrage negativity with grace and even a bit of humility. She has admitted her mistakes and is trying to move on from it. Even TMZ tried to get her to comment on the things as she came back from Spain, and she ignored the question. So obviously she has also learned from the whole situation.
Hopefully once the movie is released this can pass and it won't be a thing anymore.
Maybe, Maybe not. She is rumored to be up for several parts in future Disney projects. So never say never.True. And something tells me Disney won't be seeking out Rachel Zegler for another project again.

And had all this happened before filming began she may not have been kept on in the role. Or if it was a TV show she could have been written off or just had the part not continue as has been the case with other actors recently.
This is a film role that was already finished with production before any of this happened, so its not the same.

The box office is still used as an indicator of success, and we all use is the budget amount provided by the access media along with the access media approved 2.5 multiplier to find the break even. Reality is some unknown number.
It just makes it easy and undisputable when a given movie breaks 1B at the box office because most of the time no matter what the real numbers are you can be somewhat sure the movie made money, no calculation needed. This is especially true with the super high budget Disney movies.
