Talk about awful….Scary Movie’s reviews… never understood why some people’s expectations were so high… the kids today don’t know what a good parody is

I read a review (paraphrasing)that said something like Scary Movie makes Airplane! Look sophisticated… are you kidding me… that feels like an insult to Airplane… that film is brilliant…. The humor may seem scattershot…. But every joke had a purpose and thought behind it…. IMO Airplane is the best comedy of all time… I have seen that movie more times then I can count and it still holds up…. But with today’s spoofs it is almost outdated by the time the movie is released with all the current pop culture references

The closest we got to the 80’s style spoofs was last years Naked Gun reboot… but even that was not quite there

I saw the Mando and Grogu movie this week. Honestly, I think the movie will play better on Disney+. It's a great comfort watch and family movie, with a self-contained story that doesn't really challenge you in any way. The puppetry and music are easily the best parts. The action was good too.

Too bad Disney didn't handle the Mando IP better, because this should've been a bigger success for them if they had.

Naked Gun had me rolling a bit during some parts, while some fell flat. Overall though I just enjoyed a light hearted over the top comedy again. I recall in the theater thinking to myself that it was fun to watch and I was glad I went to see it.

That was never a real rumor, it was debunked as an April fools joke.

Phew! Still, it's scary to think a joke like that can get traction after what Hollywood has come out with the past 5 years.

The latest rumor is Callum Turner is a heavy favorite. I’ve never seen his work but the guy that just wife’d up Dua Lipa certainly checks the “men want to be him, women want to be with him” box.

I've never heard of Callum Turner (sounds like British name), but that's all James Bond should ever be.

Box Office Previews showed up yesterday. Happy early summer weekend, gang!

This will be a rough 3rd weekend for Mandalorian & Grogu. And with its very weak overseas box office, I'm starting to think it may not have the escape velocity needed to get to its $360 Million break even point by July.

Plus, it's still hogging 4,300 theaters. Those theater owners are probably not happy with that Burbank deal about now.

It's only his 3rd movie as director, but Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings were ones I both liked.

Wildwood, which gets released in October, will be his 4th

I’m not sure how much of Bumblebee Travis Knight actually directed. There’s been a longstanding rumor that he was removed from production and that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and the cinematographer took over.

Scary Movie will look like a success in the long run from a money perspective…. But both movies are bombs when it comes to the audience

I will never understand green-lighting a MotU movie… especially at that budget spend…it is very niche… A very small percentage has any nostalgia for the property… and the demos are proving it….with largest group by far represented in the audience is men over 45…. The smallest group is kids

Interesting that Backrooms is projected to have almost near identical drop off as Mando…after having nearly the same opening gross….. the core fans going opening, but not attracting a wider audience I guess

Horror movies tend to have big 2nd weekend drops, so I'm not surprised the same thing is happening to Backrooms

Obsession is very much the exception to the rule, not just for horror films, but movies in general
