Was it really only 10 min?
I am not sure the exact time but it seemed to be faster than the time it took from the first announcement to take your seats and the start of the meeting. Honestly, I think it was longer than 19 minutes. The shame is all they gave us was coffee before the meetings and would not answer any questions on the details of the merger before it received final approval. I tried to ask before the meeting how the cash and stock offers would actually work since once the stock price reaches 14.32 anything above that would result in increased compensation for those who select all stock.

I've just read an article on Bloomberg that said the deal requires 15 global regulatory clearances outside of the US.

Probably here right:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...worry-beijing-could-be-tricky-fox-deal-hurdle

I wonder how a foreign entity like China could stop the merger of two American companies especially since Fox has a small foothold in China AFAIK. Let's hope for a smooth transaction in these different global regulatory places now. EU, India, China are probably the big ones that need to approve.

I think we will have to get half cash/half stock since 99% of the FOX shareholders are gonna vote to get all stock. That kinda sucks, but it is what it is.

The more adult content that would come under Fox won’t become solely under the Disney name, which is why I think they’ll keep the Fox name in some way.

Personally I think 21st CF is a strong brand name and they should just leave it as that. People will eventually get that it’s under the Disney banner
Agreed. We don't yet know how they'll treat Fox, whether it be a wholly owned subsidiary a la Marvel Entertainment, or integrate it in with the other divisions (ie. Fox Searchlight being under The Walt Disney Studios banner, etc.) I think that will have a lot to do with the branding. Personally, I'm hoping it's the former.

Another thing to remember is that Dreamworks and Dreamworks Animation existed as two separate unrelated companies for years prior to both being bought (partly) by Comcast. So one could own the Fox trademark and license it to the other.

It will wind up being a bit of both. All Marvel will go to Marvel but the R rated movies will be distributed under the 21st Century Fox label. Fox Searchlight will continue just the way it currently is. It is also likely a few things could be moved to Disney. Look for the Touchstone and Hollywood Studio labels to disappear as the 21st Century Fox label is worth much more.

Lol, as if Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures haven't already disappeared. Everything is cyclical!

The 21st Century label is being kept by Murdoch for his news empire. No asset that Disney bought has the 21st Century label on it.

What are the physical assets? Does Disney get the Fox lot in Century City. They also have a big studio in Australia which is where Star Wars Episodes 2+3 were shot.

20th Century Fox TV and movie studio are going to be owned by The Walt Disney Company. Now I have not read anything saying Mourdock is keeping the 21st Century Fox name but he cant use the name with movies. Further as his trust wll be the biggest stockholder in The Walt Disney Company I seriously doubt he would do anything to hurt the value of the Company. I dont see any reason he would keep the 21st Century Fix name since what is left is Fox Network, Foxnews, Fox Business, The BiG10 network, Fox Spors. None of which use the 20th Century or 21st Century Fox name.

I think the 21CF holding company is dying in this separation. Split between RemainCo and New Fox. I suspect that the Fox name is too closely associated with Murdoch for Disney to use too widely, the question is if Disney will use 20CF as is. Or will it alter the name.

I'm not telling you what would likely happen. I'm telling you established fact.

The overarching corporate entity which owns all of Murdoch's properties is 21st Century Fox, which owns 20th Century Fox media.

Disney is getting 20th Fox Century Media.

Murdoch/21st Century keeps all Fox news and Fox TV stations and Fox Sports. Nothing left under 21st Century Fox is a movie making studio, so, they won't make movies under any name. Murdoch could rename 21st Century Fox, the corporate overlord holding company, to something else. But he sure as heck ain't renaming Fox news and touching that brand.

People might be getting carried away but is there a possibility that Dark Phoenix and New Mutants will be cancelled? I expect an X-Men reboot to put them into the MCU once this is all closed but that would surprise me.
They’ll both be released- http://comicbook.com/marvel/2018/07/28/x-men-dark-phoenix-new-mutants-not-cancelled/

The real question is what becomes of the planned X-Force and Gambit movies. Gambit’s probably no real loss (I’m sure Channing Tatum could still be hired in the role). X-Force is trickier, since at least three characters are cast (Deadpool, Cable, Domino).

I think it’s fair to assume that none of the movies on the Marvel list are X-Men or F4 (plus I keep reading around here that someone else might have the F4 rights?), so at the earliest, I think we’ll see the X-Men and F4 integrated late 2022 (I’m not sure what dates Fox had booked for various X-Men films, but I’m sure there was one in 2022).

From the article...

The New Mutants is rumored to be getting more substantial changes, possibly including the addition of an entirely new character. But don't worry, both films are on track for their release dates. Whenever it comes to these kinds of rumors, it's always best to consider the source.

They're just simply adding a new character to a movie that has famously gone through several re-writes and they tell us "don' worry"?

LOL

China has no friends and only does what is in its interest. Expect them to ask for something.

Iger has hinted at a 2nd park in DLS or a 2nd resort in China (Disneyland Chongqing or Beijing). They will probably ask for those.

If the deal can close by the end of this year, Disney should cancel both movies. Write off these sunk costs as tax deductible losses. Don't even stress about releasing them on Hulu until much later. The leaked description of both of these movies are Fant4stic bad. No one outside of the few hardcore FoXmen care about these movies. That's even truer now that the deal is moving closer to completion. Once the papers are signed and the ink has dried no one will give a rat's about this movie, especially if it's the turd it's rumored to be.

And I can only imagine how the marketing team and the actors would feel promoting a garbage movie that dozens of people are looking forward to while the rest of the world is imagining how Feige is gonna make the magic happen in the MCU.

As for Deadpool & X-Force?
That’s definitely moving forward, I’m interested in seeing whether they keep Deadpool and some other characters in an R-Rates Universe or something like that.

One thing, I think Disney should consider, is doing a The Sound of Music remake/sequel ala Mary Poppins Retuns...
