I could see them just fine! I think some folks call discovery island , Bird island now, because all the birds circle the island at sundown and then land for the night. Very pretty!

Thanks  .

I too know about the bacteria that exists in all Florida swamp water. The water for River Country was never really "filtered" all that well anyway, in the pool/lake where you came off the one tube ride you landed in lake water that flowed in and out through a rope fence that kept you from floating off into Bay Lake.

The bacteria might have been the nail in the coffin for River Country, but I am almost positive the reason was the waste of money.

Trust me, the bacteria was always there and long before it was closed people got sick. Money is always the underlying issue with disney!

I thought that rope fence was actually a rubber bladder, that kept the RI water seperate from the BL water. It inflated and defalted itself to keep at the right height?

Well, the actual pool part of RC was ok, it's just when people started swimming in the lake water was when we had problems. We don't want to rename River Country to "Bacteria Country"!

I know it was a rubber fence atleast cause the 1 time i was there we "walked" along it. If you look around you can find some info on the forgoten gem of WDW. But also the rubber fence kept the water from mixing with the water in the lagoon. I would hope that some day maybe it could come back atleast as something cause that is a great place to relax off away from everything.
