Dining Plan Questions

I have a dining plan question for who ever can help out....we are trying to determine it if will be worthwhile for us, and I know gratuity is included in it. Is tax included as well? Also, we would be arriving on a Sunday and departing on Friday, would the plan cover Sunday-Friday, or just Mon-Friday or Sun-Thurs?

Hi there... if you are staying 5 nights, you will receive 5 sit-down meals, 5 counter service meals and 5 snacks per person. Which days you use these on is up to you. :^) I believe all taxes & gratuities are included. If you do not order anything off-plan (like alcohol) you should not have anything to pay for when you leave the restaurant.

The Dining Plan covers taxes and tips, so you are set with that. You get dining "credits" for each night of your stay, so you arrive Sunday and leave Friday so that would be 5 nights of credits. If you get in late Sunday and won't get to the park, well then you have a full days worth of credits to play around with during your stay. As far as "is it worth it or not" think of this; how many times a day do you eat in the park? Do you normally eat at sit-down restaurants when you are at Disney or do you like to eat at the quick service places? The Dining plan is worth it if you would normally eat one quick service and one sit down per day, for the amount of food you get, it IS a god deal, but if you think you would spend less than $38 a day per person on food, then opt out of the Dining Plan. We loved it, and will look into booking it again next year, but it's really up to you to decide!

Tax and gratuity are included.

Your dining plan is based on the number of nights you have booked. So per person, per package night you will have one snack, one quick service, and one table service. These can be used any time during your stay from the time you check-in until midnight on the day you check out.

So to answer your question, the plan covers Sunday - Friday depending on how you use your plan. The nice thing about the plan is you can use the credits whenever you see fit. You can use two table service credits in one day or all your snack credits in one day, it is completely up to you.

My wife and I just used the dining plan for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Everyone else seemed to answer your questions about tax and gratuity so I'll just give you my impression of the plan in general to maybe help you determine if you think it would be worthwhile for you.

First I would caution that the dining plan is only good for your length of stay. That means if you are local or if you plan on staying somwhere else in the Orlando area for a couple of more nights you cannot go to a hotel or park and use unused dining credits. We found this out the hard way. We were staying 13 days, 12 nights. Our park tickets and first reservation were only for 10 days. Well, even though you can skip a day in the parks and still use that admission as long as it is within the 14 days (if your tickets expire as ours did) the dining plan does not work that way. It is tied to your hotel stay. We were caught a little off guard when we were getting our keys re-cut for our last two nights that the dining plan would not carry over. The hotel was very nice and they worked things out for us, but just be aware.

Our opinion of the dining plan is that it is a very good value. It is great if you want to try new restaurants that you might have before considered too expensive or too expensive for dinner. You do get a lot of food though. I would just caution you not to feel compelled to eat everything that you are given. At your quickservice meals or even table service you might want to ask if they have a dessert that you can take to go (there is often fruit or cookies for quick service). We did get a little sick of chicken strips and burgers as being options for quickservice. I will deifintely check the menus before we use it again so that we can make sure we have some variety. Overall it is a great deal and we loved it. One example is we at at Le Cellier one night, the bill exluding wine was $111.00!!! At $76 for the dining plan for two people for the whole day we more than came out ahead. At that restaraunt we would still have been ahead even if we ordered the least expensive items on the menu.

Have fun!

One thing to keep in mind though is that you're only saving money if you would normally order an appetizer and a dessert. Actually an appetizer and dessert for each adult at the table. When we eat at a table service restaurant we normally just order water and the meal without all those extras(I'm cheap). However, we decided that this is Disney and we would splurge. You really can't beat the price for the food you get. Just don't think you are really saving money unless you normally do order all that food. You're just saving the money you would have paid for the spread you get. Does that make sense?:p

The best thing about the Dining plan was that I didn't have to worry about choosing an expensive steak or between some cheap-o meal because everything would be included as part of the plan. I would choose the expensive steak then have dessert on top of it. Oh it was good!! :)

Disney just needs to add another dining plan to their package. An Alcohol package :)

We loved the dining plan. We ate much better meals than we would have without it. Just be sure to make your ADR's well in advance of your trip. It would be terrible to buy the dining plan and then not be able to get into any restaurants.

i am just repeating what everyone else has said i am sure.....we used a few weeks ago & loved it. it was more than what we planned on spending but being able to pick anything on the menu u want was great. we usually don't apps & deserts but it was ll worth it & we will do it again. i think above what we paid we saved over 300 total for 5 people. we ate some really awesome food. usually we never eat at a sit down place, usually just counter service. just make sure u get reservation for certain places asap. we made reservation for every sit down place but did not need it for every day. we used the sit downs at lunch alot cause the diner was booked several nights. best place we ate was wolfgang pucks DTD. WOW awesome food.
