As we close in on the opening date for SWGE in DHS, I've compiled a list of exterior differences between the two lands. Photos thus far are courtesy of bioreconstruct, SoCal Attractions 360, and WDWMAGIC.

Resistance Forest:
Different layout and some theming differences.

Disneyland:
393875

Hollywood Studios:
393878

This building in Disneyland doesn't exist in Hollywood Studios.
393879

Marketplace:
Large differences in theming.

Exterior in Disneyland has a much lighter tone of orange.
393880

In Hollywood Studios, one of the cylinders is painted blue instead of orange. The white cylinders appear to have a darker rust. The green cylinder appears to be a darker color. There are also panels above the right entrance (circled in red) that are not on the building in Disneyland.
393882

The green cylinder also has a much more faded decal in Disneyland compared to Hollywood Studios.
DL:
393883

DHS:
393884

Ronto Roasters:
In Disneyland the entrance arches are painted a grey/white color.
393891

At Hollywood Studios they are painted a light blue.
393892

More added soon...

The vents in Disneyland are a dark color with some rust.

The vents in Hollywood Studios are white with some rust.

Docking Bay 7:
There are some differences in theming in the outside seating area of Docking Bay 7, particularly the exterior of the building.
Disneyland:
393898

DHS:
393899

Smuggler's Run Facade:
Yellow decal is a different design and painted higher in Disneyland:
393900

DHS:
393901

Buildings opposite of Oga's Cantina:
In Disneyland the cylindrical building is painted a more orange color and this contrasts more with the themed deterioration of the building.
393907

In Hollywood Studios the building is painted a much grayer color. You can also see they've painted one of the walls a black color with some rust instead of stone theming as used in Disneyland. The tin windows appear to be closed.
393909

Building opposite to the building above:

In Disneyland the bottom half of the building is painted an orange-brown.
393912

In Hollywood Studios it is painted white/gray:

Work is still ongoing in this area of DHS, but it's clear there will be significant differences.
DL:
394056

DHS will also have a gate, as this is not an entrance to the land.
394057

...which also means that, for the time being, this side of the building will not be accessible to guests in DHS:

Serious question. Has anyone heard a reason for these differences? I remember reading about a slight differences in hues to account for different levels of sunlight, smog, weather, whatever, but this seems like a lot more than that. Two different concepts altogether.

The layout difference in the Resistance side is simply because of difference in real estate each park had to live within.

It's been said some of the color choices for the rock work were to take into account the two lands face difference compass points and they had to take into account the direction of sunlight.

As to why a building in one land got a different brickwork than the same building the other land... who knows.

Even under different lighting conditions, I think it'll be apparent that DHS's rockwork has a lot more contrast. The foliage especially is very green at DHS. At Disneyland a lot of the foliage on the rockwork appears to be almost dead.

I like the look better in DHS to be honest. there is finally some color which is something Disneyland's is drasitcally missing that is needed.

What if DHS's opens with droids all over the place, X-wings and Tie Fighters in drone battles, and cast members who smile and talk normal? What if Darth Vader appears? Seriously, what if the go the opposite direction?

OK, maybe no Vader.
Then it will clearly be the superior version of the land. No if's,and's, or's about it. It will be hands down the better version and it will make Disney look bad for prioritizing one park over the other. Disneyland's will be looked upon as more of a failure than it has been considered already.

I doubt it'll open with all of that, but word has been that the droids, drones, and shows are coming eventually. At least that is the word from insiders.

Quick, check DHS's X-Wing. Is it blue?
