Didn't Disney tell us they would give us an update on ROL at the end of May?

Yeah, it is pretty bad AK nights is off to a terrible start. But one thing we have noticed so far this week...tons of management around all the parks from open to close. They've been helping guests, lightly coaching CMs (bad form IMO) and taking pictures of things not working, chipped paint and bad logistics (esp line bottlenecks). I've been here on Mem day week for years and never seen this level of management presence.

My boyfriend noticed a manager in AK after we had an issue with the frozen drinks we ordered. They were out of the mix (They didn't seem to be properly prepared for extra hours), and the cashier sold it to me anyway (probably didn't know it was out). I wound up getting a free beer but my boyfriend made sure to loudly talk to me about the whole experience in the earshot of the manager, who seemed to be casually reading his phone. He only moved on when we finished talking about the experience.

Guys, the update was that Rivers of Light would be postponed till later and that The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic would be created as an interim show. This info was announced after they announced that RoL would not be premiering on the 22nd and that they'd update us by mid to late May. Note the key word "by." They fulfilled their promise, and I think it would've been silly to divert attention from the summer show to update us once again.

If you didn't see my post from almost two weeks ago where I explained the same thing, that is the short explanation. Only now it is unarguably true.

If they had significant progress that they wanted to share, they could've given us an additional update, so I guess you could take this whole thing as a sign of something. But my point is that Disney didn't break any promise.

Haven't gotten the chance to see the show before my blackout dates start, but a close friend of mine from college dances in it and it at least looks pretty interesting in picture form

Could we bring back a daytime parade for crying out loud?? They did away with the HS ones year and years ago. Then took away the AK one. I know Disney is a big business, but at what point do they start exiting these people that are costing them their "Keys" and replacing them with ones that will do the job correct. Stop shuffling people, replace. My job would do that, and has.

I agree that the JB announcement likely was it. All we've heard about is the GPS issues on the barges for RoL, but I wonder if now the water screen issues might further delay things? Can't be good that a featured show element isn't even working correctly in a temporary show.

Yea, those looked terrible. They didn't touch at all. So it was partial images. Looks cheap! lol

JB show isn't bad for what it is, I saw it in person over the weekend. It's entertaining for a show that was thrown together last minute. Quite impressive in that, couldn't imagine the scrambling that was involved unless they always have a plan B. I think some people need to take it down a notch and appreciate the hard work that goes into any sort of production, whether it appeals to you or not.

I don't think you'll see another daytime parade at AK for two main reasons:
1. The pathways simply can't handle it especially with the increased attendance. Previous parades basically prevented you from moving in the park, especially to the safari.
2. The park pretty much cleared out after the old parade, which was okay when they were closing at 5-6:00. A nighttime show helps them to keep people in the park for the extended hours.

How is all the payroll for multiple performers on the cheap. Looks like this show is more "entertainer heavy" than ROL was since it looks like they are compensating for the lack of visuals with live "performers"

A bit contradictory there. I agree with others that the company doesnt owe us any explanation, but the JB show is just another "thrown together last minute" offering and it shows. Same as the Frozen play area for HS last year. Not saying either one is/was bad, but they just keep serving up small, mediocre, quickly thrown together events, shows, play areas, and cupcake events. It would be nice to see something that actually exceeds expectations

Contradictory? It doesn't take hard work to literally throw something together last minute? Because that's what happened. Last-minute isn't being used as a negative in this case, it's just a fact.

It definitely doesn't take the same effort that a well designed and planned out show would entail. The kind that was once a standard.

Dave you know better here is how this is going down.

In the beginning was the plan.

And then came the assumptions.

And the assumptions were without form.

And the plan was without substance.

And darkness was upon the face of the workers.

And they spoke among themselves saying,

"It is a crock of s--- and it stinketh."

And the workers went unto their supervisors and said,

"It is a pale of dung and none may abide the odor thereof."

And the supervisor went unto their managers and said,

"It is a container of excrement and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."

And the managers went unto their directors, saying,

"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength."

And the directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another,

"It contains that which aids plant growth and it is very strong."

And the directors went unto the vice presidents, saying unto them,

"It promotes growth and is very powerful."

And the vice presidents went unto the president, saying unto him,

"The new plan will promote the growth and vigor of the company, with powerful effects."

And the president looked upon the plan and saw that it was good.

And the plan became policy.

This is how s--- happens.

Did you make that up on your own? Color me impressed. Right, Wrong, or Indifferent, that was a great read.

Some of the reviews seem to pay out that it wasn't a thoroughly thought out thing so I don't think saying that is unfair to the performers. I'm sure they do their best with what they were given. Is this the center piece nighttime attraction that the park needs? Absolutely not. Now how long is just good enough going to last? Knowing TDO probably a while. It would have been better to have nothing than to have a temporary fix.
