Did Disney nearly nab Ghostbusters?

I found this article over at Bloody Disgusting, which makes the claim that Disney initially wanted Ghostbusters as a show scene in the Great Movie Ride for horror/science fiction, but Universal had beaten them to securing the rights....leading to Disney falling back to the cancelled "Nostromo" plan by adding Alien instead.

Is there any truth to this?

I find it interesting during the time the Ghostbusters were at Universal a young Wayne Brady would be playing Zeddeman in the Orlando park...

And the Stage show he performed in the New York Section...

How could Universal score the rights when Ghostbusters already is a Universal property? It’s like saying Disney won the rights to Mickey Mouse.. no they already own him outright. Disney-MGM Studios was a rushed knee jerk reaction to Universal Orlando being constructed so why would Disney want their now rival’s property in their new park? And why would Universal even consider licensing out the property when they were going to be able to use it in their own park. The story makes no sense. Besides, Ghostbusters isn’t even a horror or a Sci-Fi, it’s a comedy.
Ghostbusters is Columbia/Sony, not Universal.

It's as strange as Ace Ventura (A Warner Bros Character) Had his own show on the Streets of America...

To @FettFan , yes.

A New York skyline would have shown the iconic scene of the main cast fighting the marshmallow man. Action would have been on both sides of the ride vehicles.

I dare say it was removed way before the final draft.

RoboCop had three television shows aimed at kids, two animated and one live action.
I vaguely remember the RoboCop animated series, but I used to watch Beetlejuice all the time with my little sister, and again with my daughter when she was younger. Out of all the late 80s/early 90s movie adaptation cartoons, I thought Beetlejuice was one of the best.
