DHS Soundstage 1 Renovation - Toy Storia Mania expansion

It wasn't that abandoned. It's just a big room. It was used twice recently. There was an ice rink in there for frozen and then it was the darth mall during the last SWW

Is this building being bulldozed too? Or will be being used for something else?

Wish I could have seen the inside before the internal construction for the track. Something about abandoned buildings that still have things like equipment from a prior purpose is just fascinating to me.

There was a video on YouTube detailing the construction of TSMM and how they removed the backlot tour walkways from Soundstage 2 when building the front of the attraction. And there's still that bridge connecting Soundstage 3 and 4. Do the old walkways still exist in 1, 3, and/or 4? If so, would someone just reach a dead end by the time they got to 2 from either side?

Any idea what the video was titled as? I've been looking but I may be over thinking the title...

Oh I get that, but I was just curious if they still had production/stage equipment in it from way back. There was a video of Adamthewoo going up into the catwalks at one of the former Nickelodeon Studios soundstages at Universal and there was still tons of old equipment with Nick logos on them from the early 1990s.

Any idea what the video was titled as? I've been looking but I may be over thinking the title...

At 54:28 it starts showing the construction of TSMM.
At 54:36 it says that the original tour corridor in Soundstage 2 was partially removed and walled off. It looks like theoretically you could still reach it (the dead end) through Soundstage 1, or go backwards through 4 and 3, if the walkways in those soundstages still exist.

Just an FYI, the current Midway Mania is in a combined Stages 2 & 3. I think they were actually knocked together into one when they put in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

The bridge was used as a dressing room/green room for the White Witch in Narnia. I presume the far end was walled off.

I walked past the sound stage today and not much has changed but there was one that was worthy of mentioning. The entire area has had inserts cemented into the concrete for extended cue stanchions. The holes do line up with the current outdoor cue to the left of the toy story ride entrance and were so new the cement still looked green (a couple of days old at most) and the caps were all shiney brass still.

Posted on another site, but looks like those poles have created the longer queue line. Any indication of an opening a little earlier than later at this point?

This cue makes concerned that there are going to be 2 tracks for fastpass and only one for standby. Why else would they want to extend the cue outside by 400+ feet when the entire idea of adding a third track is to shorten the line.

Two things... First I think it widely believed that the third track will be used for Fastness as even today FP ratios are 60/70% of capacity. Secondly, as there is no reason why the third track would make the Standby line longer I would assume this is preparing for some further internal works that would make the current internal queue shorter to prepare for the third track coming online. If TSL was under construction I would think it had something to do with flipping the queue but this is so far away I can't imagine it is anything to do with that.

From everything we've heard , the third track will be stand by and the first two will be fast pass. Same with Soarin. New theatre will be stand by while the original two will be fast pass. This should make getting a fast pass easier but will have little effect on standby.

Official numbers are hard to know, but I'm under the impression that the third track will increase both the amount of FP+ availability and standby capacity -- though FP+ would be increased much more of the two. That said, if FP+ availability increases then it should help the standby line just because more guests are being served in the FP+ line (which would take some people out of the standby line that otherwise would be there).

One interesting question is how this will help tiers for FP+ at DHS. In the long run, I think they would like to remove tiers from DHS and Epcot. It may not happen just from the track expansion for TSMM, but I think it will at least happen when TSL opens (the slinky dog coaster at least will have FP+ and probably both additions).

It's also possible this extended queue outside is to allow them to block off the internal queue area for TSL changes.
Fastpass distribution typically represents 2/3rds of an attraction's capacity. For something like Toy Story you're going to see nearly every Fastpass+ spot distributed. Even right now Toy Story isn't 50/50, I'm guess it's 2/3rds Fastpass, 1/3 Standby. I suspect the queue will be reconfigured so that while the new track will likely be predominantly Standby only it won't be forced into that configuration. Increasing the capacity of that attraction by 50% is huge, and you may see the need/demand for Fastpass+ reduced.

As for the exterior queue, I suspect that @Stryker927 is correct and these temporary stanchions are being setup to allow for further configuration inside while minimizing downtime. Keep in mind that the queue entrance is also expected to change when Toy Story Land opens so this queue will likely be reconfigured multiple times over the next few years.

I always love to hear ideas about eliminating the tiers at Epcot and DHS! I'm sure it will happen at some point.

You know I keep hearing that number bantered about 66 to 70% being fastpass. I have a problem figuring out not only how anyone knows, but, how it is beneficial to have that many. Wouldn't that make the Fastpass line basically nothing more then a fancy named standby line. If true, and I'm not saying it isn't, was that much actually gained by having FP instead of not having that extra step. The only thing it does is spread out the crowd a little so not everyone is there at the same time and that is the only thing that makes it go faster. Is that the reason? I have never had to wait more then 5 minutes in a FP line in fact most of the time I just walked up to the entrance and went right in. It just doesn't seem like that would be possible if the percentage were that high.

The majority Soarin's capacity consists of FP+. More so than you think, which is why it makes sense to dedicate theatres to FP+. It's not a matter of how long you wait in a FP line but more about how many FP+ capacity increases. In theory, the standby line shouldn't change much other than getting shorter(more people using FP+ to ride = less in standby).
