DHS Rumor Confirmation?

Just got back from WDW this past Tuesday, had a great time. I was told a very interesting rumor while there. I cringe to say I heard it from a bus driver, but later an employee at Tattooine Traders confirmed what the bus driver said. I figured I would ask here and see of anyone here has also heard it. Here goes:

The long term plan for DHS over the next 5-10 years is to remove/relocate the bus terminals in front of the park and repace them with 3 coasters. The plans for this have already been approved, but have been put on hold because of the economy.

Are gift shop workers on the same reliability page as transportation?

I guess if it is true Disney is keeping DHS as the main thrill ride park.

I have no idea who is or isn't reliable, that's why I figured I would ask here since some on this board seem to be more in the know. I just think it would be great if it is true.

Sounds like the end of a game of telephone with the rumors and dreaming regarding the future of Pixar Place that keep flying around.

The three coasters would be Monsters Inc. coaster, Radiator Spring Racers clone, Crush/Ratatouille/something small coaster. I know Radiator Springs Racers is Test Track technology and not a roller coaster, but I bet a lot of people would describe it as such.

The bus area would be a confusion regarding the end of the studio tour, with building going into the tram loading and unloading area.

Wow, he pulled that one out of left field, didn't he?

I wonder if they purposely make this stuff up to see if it will get mentioned on the internet.

Monsters Inc. is the only coaster at this time that is green lit for the Studios and will likely be located in an area around Soundstage One and the Backlot Tour.

Expansion into the parking lot/bus stops at some point to add more attractions has been discussed on here several times (usually related to closing down the Indiana Jones Stage Show.) This is unless they decide to move World Drive, Buena Vista Drive or the canal to the west of the main parking toll booths for more expansion pad. However there is quite a few places towards the back of the park that serve little purpose now that the facilities are not actively used as a production studio.

The 3 coasters you mention are exactly what I was thinking, but the mention of the bus terminal and the front of the park was new to me.

I still think the most likely area for expansion is the Backlot Tour area. I went on the tour a few days back and it is completely pointless now without any kind of backlot to show off. I expect Pixar Place will end up consuming that section of the park to make way for Radiator Springs Racers and perhaps another new attracton. HISTK will probably become A Bug's Life, since that is an easy fix.

Moving bus terminals at the front of the park seems kinda pointless. I mean, that really isn't that much room to build a coaster unless they built up like at Universal Studios. I'm not sure how true that rumor is, but it doesn't seem like a good fit to me.

What do you want to hear? That the immiediate expansion area is soundstage one and then the backlot area from Cat Can to World Drive to the parking structure?

I hope this is false because in my opinion three more coasters in one park would be a very Six Flags type of move. When all you can build is coasters you need some help in the creative department

And no matter how much people like coasters, dark rides pull in people as well... No need for 3 more coasters... Open the Monsters Inc dark ride coaster... Maybe make a Crush coaster for the kids, like Barnstormer, and Radiator Springs for everyone... Give us Star Tours 2 and replace the Indy Stunt Show with another Indiana attraction and things will be going pretty well...

Yea I used to live coasters but can't handle them anymore, can't really do Aerosmith but still can do BTM SM EE. Anything more intense than that I can't do, but besides that only building coasters shows a lack of creativity.

You know, I wonder if this is all sort of linked to Universals coaster that extends past the front gate? Is that adding fuel to the fire?

In any case, if Disney builds three coaster like attractions and they have the typical Disney theming, then I would be just fine with that sort of direction. Right now the studios is our least favorite park and we always give it no more than 1/2 a day's time, including an evening for Fantasmic. I would just hope that they keep the coasters smooth enough for most folks to ride (No more RNR type of head bangers) so that everyone in my family can ride. Right now RNR and Mission Space are the only rides in the 4 parks that my wife can't ride. We visit Disney for the inclusive nature of its attractions, and that's why we seldom visit Universal or IOA.

Anyway I am tossing salt due to the highly reliable information that usually comes from Transportation. It's fun to chat about it tho.
