Dessert party confusion

I'm thinking about booking the dessert party at the Magic Kingdom. But I'm a bit confused. Looking on the Disney web site there are 2 different types of pre-fireworks parties. I thought that with the less expensive one you ate and then went and stood for the fireworks. But for the more expensive one it states that you are escorted to a prime viewing spot for the fireworks. So what is the difference?

I thought with the more expensive version you sat and watched the fireworks from your table. Has that changed?

We did the one where you sit + watch from the Tomorrowland Terrace. The view was a letdown. The roof of the venue obstructs much of the fireworks, unless you're at the front row of tables. If you do make it to the front row, expect to have a ton of people crowded around your area while you try to enjoy your desserts.

Highly recommend the escorted option. Much better viewing!

You get a seat when you pay a little more. On a rainy night it is priceless. Actually after a long day at the park a seat is priceless.

There are now three options for the MK dessert party:
Sit in tomorrow land terrace for the dessert party and stay there to watch the fireworks
Sit in tomorrow land terrace for the dessert party and then get escorted to the garden area to view the fireworks
View the fireworks in the garden area then get escorted to the dessert party after the fireworks

We did the middle one last year and it was great. Excellent view of the castle, except we couldn't stay long at the dessert party as we wanted a good spot to view. Next year we are doing the last option, so we watch the fireworks then have dessert. Hopefully it wont feel as rushed. At least before then the first option was the most expensive as it has the most limited seats.

Did you just tell them you wanted to go stand to watch the fireworks? Does everyone in your group have to either stay at a table or go stand?

You just go to the staff at the check in desk when you're ready and they escort you to the area. We did the garden area view in October and it was excellent. It wasn't crammed in, with plenty of room to move about. It would be up to you whether all of your group go at once or at different times.

We did Dessert party in September. There are 2 different options. One is that you have dessert before the fire works on Tomorrow land terrace. You then are brought to the special area to view fireworks in front of the castle. The other is that you are let into the special viewing area watch fireworks and are then brought over to Tomorrow land terrace for your dessert party. You view the fireworks from the same spot no matter which party you are attending. Our option was that you were able to get a little better viewing spot if you had the after party. The reserved space was not crowded as bad is regular viewing.

We've done the party multiple times and have it reserved again for our trip in March. What we've done before (and what we're doing in March) is have our dessert and stay at the Tomorrowland Terrace. The view is great. We haven't always gotten a table in the front, however, what we've seen is people typically get up and stand at the wall. There's plenty of room and it's a great experience. Don't get me wrong it's expensive, but it's Disney, so you shouldn't expect cheap. I think whichever party you decide on, you're going to really enjoy it!

There are 3 versions... in addition to the two you name, the third is the option to have an assigned seat at the tomorrowland terrace & remain at that seat throughout the fireworks.

This option is on the lower/left hand side of check in at the dessert party entrance. The plaza viewing guest are seated in the upper/right side then walk over to the place viewing area. So you may not have noticed the other guest on the left side.

Please remember Ms Duckies that seating choice is first come first serve. There will be plenty of seats, but not all seats are equal. They have two table arrangements: fair weather where the tables are up to the rail, and inclement weather where they start the tables under the overhang and proceed inward.

Good to know. How far ahead of the time they gave us should we be in line?

We are usually there an hour to an hour and a half prior to the listed time. The cast members will start asking you what your check in time is to male sure you're in the right line. Garden view is 30 minutes before Terrace.

My sister went ahead and booked us for the Tomorrowland Terrace option. We will be in the Magic Kingdom on July 3, and sis didn't want to feel too packed in while watching the fireworks.
The view is pretty terrible if you are behind the front row of tables. The overhang blocks many of the fireworks. Be sure to get their early and be prepared for a lot of people crowding around your table to get a better view when they realize theirs is obstructed.
