Its about time Disneystarted supplying fridges in the rooms for free. It's pretty sad because MOST hotels even the cheap ones have them and Disney hotels which are pretty swank don't-cheap of Disney.

I don't think it's them being cheap - I think it has more to do with them wanting to sell more food. For instance, even the Resort Mugs. Since they can't be filled in the parks (well, not for free anyway), they are only useful around the resort to bring cold drinks back to the room, etc. A family of 4 could store a week's worth of cold soda in a fridge for less than the cost of one mug.

I just want to get this straight. I am going to WDW in October, staying at the contemporary. I have been debating whether it would be worth the money to get a fridge for my daughters milk or go down to the snack bar every morning. Even though they are free, you still have to request one right?

To resurrect this thread.

Over the next 5 months, all moderate and deluxes will be getting refridgerators put into the rooms. If there isn't one in your room, you can still request one, and will not be charged for it.

For those staying at the Grand, in addition to the minibar, you can request a fridge a no charge.

Personally, I don't see why you should get one for free at the more expensive resorts and still have to pay at the values. You get other ammenities and larger rooms at the more expensive ones.

You never have to pay for a fridge if it's for a medical condition, like needing it for insulin.

Not to advocate little white lies, but Disney doesn't come around and check if you actually have medicine in the fridge do they?

Can you request this when you check in or should I call Disney back and add to my reservation now? We usually run get ice everyday, but it sure would be nice to not have to do that at the end of a long day having a two year old with us.

Every time my mother, who is diabetic, has stayed at any of the resorts, from value to deluxe, she has been able to get a fridge for free. Just mention it to the CM when you are making your reservation and then again once you check in.

They have never checked her fridge (At least to my knowledge) I am going to :zipit: about the ethics of this question and just hope any true Disney fan would listen to Jiminy Cricket ;)

So, just to confirm...all deluxe and moderates will be getting the refridgerators in 5 months....(Feb.??)

Does anyone know and confirm if they are just the cube...or an actual mini-bar with no storage.

Rooms at the Yacht Club have refrigerator/mini-bars. There are no soda or candy machines in the hotel so, except when the gift shop is open, your mini-bar is your only option (I found this out after I scoured both the Yacht and Beach Club one night searching for refreshments). But the prices are normal vending machine prices, not outrageous at all except for standard Disney outrageousness. Approx. prices: Soda was 2.50, beer/wine 4.00, candy 1.50. There was cereal and milk, a thermal beverage sleeve, even a toy I think. The maid replenished it daily and the total appeared on the bill at the end of my stay.

When I stayed at the Pop Century in July there was a fridge in my room. I didn't request it or pay for it. Could be because I was in a King bed room with a handicapped accessible shower?

Can anyone remember the CBR having minibars in the rooms?

When I was there in 1993 we had a fully stocked minibar. I was shocked when I first entered the room. Of course we hit it a few times and it was fairly expensive, but I believe you could lock it so nobody could take anything.

Can anyone tell me what year was this done away with @ CBR????

we were there in 98 and they still had them, but a fridge would be even be better
