These are quotes from the attraction that may be viewed with a different lens today. I have to give the disclaimer, that my suggestions don't necessary mean that I'm offended by them or that they are all troublesome, but they are guesses at what I think could be viewed by some people as not welcoming to all audiences.out of curiosity what songs were troublesome?
- "I was acting like a Don Juan,And making a lot of noise." -referring to a womanizer, sexualizer, and paints a person of color negatively based on stereotype
- "A go-go girl caught my hand,I said, 'I can’t. I’m a married man.'She said 'If you ain’t gonna steal,You better not prowl.'" - talks of visiting a strip club with the boys
- "My woman ain’t purty, but she don’t swear none. She’s kinda heavy — don’t weigh a ton." -singing about his ugly wife and criticizing her weight/fat shaming
- "Mama, don’t whup little Buford…I think you should shoot him instead." -child abuse/gun violence
- "Every time I meet a guy who gets me shook, All I ever get from him’s a dirty look.
It’s the same way everywhere, I’ve found.
All the guys that turn me on turn me down." -turn me on just has a different weight to it these days for a show for the family - "There was blood on the saddle,And blood all around,And a great big puddle, Of blood on the ground." - violent description
Again, being clear, I'm personally not offended by these at all, but they are not exactly themes, topics, or lyrics you'd necessarily hear or promote regularly today. When you have a short while to entertain families why sing about this stuff. And it has served its purpose to entertain for this long already, but it's time for a change.
I don't think "inclusion" is the sole reason behind this, but if they can tackle that issue at the same time as utilizing capacity and refreshing something that is showing its age, then why not.
