If the elected officials approve. Taking deliveries, purchases, testing, are not "essential" services. Beginning of May? That's really wishful thinking. In this pandemic, Disney does not decide when to bring in cast members "early".
Actually.... they are lol. Warehouses ( where my husband works) is considered an ‘essential’... so yeah they could bring them in early. Not to mention the social distancing is ending April 30th supposedly... and if it doesn’t then it’s still considered essential.

You guys do realize how exponential functions work? If Disney opened June 1, there are still going to be coronavirus cases out there albeit far less than there are now but with 99% of our population still susceptible (Dr. Fauchi stated they think they can keep it under 1% of Americans getting infected which is ~3,300,000 people) that if one infected person goes to WDW on June 1 this whole thing will start over again.

We may be able to have gatherings of 50 or maybe even 250 people after June 1 but it will be many more months before places like Disney can open. Mark my words. Safety is their number one key of the four keys.
You would have to shut down the world then. Disney, Vegas, movie theaters... etc. who is going to pay all those people’s bills?

Rain booths, followed by dryers and staff toweling stuff down? Or even a person operating a sprayer..

Think of your local drive-through car wash with the army of people toweling the car after it comes out..

just spitballing...
Would need to hit them with either steam if you just used water or a bleach or alcohol solution if you wanted a chemical fix... chemicals would add a lot of expense and risk since alcohol is flammable and bleach would be unlikely to be completely removed leaving people to have their clothes ruined anytime they road the ride. Steam would be the better option although it would not be cheap and it would also be dangerous to accomplish since no one can see steam which means it is a easy way for someone to get seriously burned when they don't see the jet of steam and burn themselves.

Frankly, until there is a vaccine I don't see any way Disney can operate most rides that cater to kids because what parents are going to want to risk their 4 year old catching the virus just so they could see Captain Hook or Winnie the Pooh on a ride.

I still stand by the fact that increased suicide rates are going to be a major thing if we continue to let fear takeover. I’m very close myself.

Are you aware of millions of Americans laid off are applying for unemploynent, stimulus check for $600 per week for 4 months, another 1 time stimulus check also? There are many who have been furloughed that may not get a chance to go back to work if the small business does not survive this.

I haven't seen much information on India what I have read is they are in the very early stages. With the second highest population over, crowded cities and a healthcare system already over taxed this could be a disaster and a reservoir of covid-19 well into the coming year. I hope by some miracle this is not the case.

It feels like some people in this thread are living at the end of the pandemic, where a million people have died from this virus, twenty million were infected, millions are out of jobs, corporations have shuttered, and they're living in a post-apocalyptic world where the idea of a vacation is never going to happen for the rest of their lives and their grandchildren's lives as well.

It feels like some people in this thread are aghast at the idea that people are thinking about going back to work, as if the idea of people valuing their lives, their loved ones, and the people that rely on them to make a living for the roof over their heads, food in their bellies, and clothing on their backs (in addition to trips to WDW) is ridiculous because there are people dying right now. Except those people would all be dead if that person wasn't planning and prepared to go back to work.

It feels like some people in this thread are hellbent on EVERYONE staying home until a vaccine is found.

It feels like people are being maligned for being optimistic and looking forward to the day that things can start to feel 'normal' again.

It feels like people want doom and gloom to be here because that's the space they exist in right now and damn anyone who isn't living that same life with them.

It feels like some people think Disney will open on 4/20 and damn anyone who will stop them from believing that.

How about everyone move back towards the middle of the spectrum, accept the facts as they exist today (there's no cure, people are being infected every single day, vaccine is probably a year away if not more, things will eventually feel like 'normal' again though there's no idea when that will happen, schools and jobs are for the most part shut down, and most of us are indoors 24/7 right now and probably feeling a bit stir crazy), and stop judging others for the prism they view things from? Hope only exists if we all believe in it. It makes no sense to be at either end of the spectrum when reality is, things could be far worse than they are today and also significantly better then they could be today.

Are kids going back to school in the fall? If so, they're at risk of catching the virus. Doesn't have to be at WDW for it to happen.

Because, like with most things, moderation and centrism is almost impossible to achieve and isn't guaranteed to work. So we prepare for the worst, because the world economy is already shut down (reopening American businesses doesn't mean our biggest trade partners are going to follow suit, and it doesn't mean most Americans will be comfortable going back to their daily routine....) and we've seen proven accounts of shortages across the nation.

Or we could prepare for the best, and pretend like nothing is happening. Then there's potential for catastrophic loss of life, and thus, the economy.

There is work being done using frequencies of UV light:

This would obviously be faster and a "dry" method, but it obviously cannot be implemented by the probable June 1 opening...

Preparing for the worst and expecting the worst are two different things.

We have shortages because people are expecting the worst to happen instead of being more moderate and tempered. And those shortages are at the store level, not the distributor level. That's why things are replenishing every day. The problem is the first set of people who freaked out and bout 8,423 rolls of toilet paper have caused others to freak out and want to make sure they have enough for their own family.
