Don't worry, today the government announced they may refuse to pay superintendents and school board members who mandate masking for students. So that should take care of it.

P.S: Texas just requested help from out-of-state healthcare professionals and asked hospitals to postpone all elective surgery. So those hospitals seem to be in some difficulty.

We are living in a dystopian DIckens novel here in FL....

But elsehwere, some hospital stats:

In Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas, current hospitalization rates are more than double the national rate.

And in Florida, the hospitalization rate is more than triple the national rate. There are more than 65 people hospitalized with Covid-19 for every 100,000 people in Florida, about one out of every 1,500 state residents.

Oh, and also Mississippi is having hospital challenges: The state's health officer, Dr. Thomas Dobbs, said in a tweet Monday that there are no intensive care unit beds available at Level 1, 2 and 3 hospitals.

It's fine...nothing to see here.

Thankfully I live in a country where that rarely happens.

All I'm saying maybe those in charge should have worried note about getting people vaccinated over being open for business.


I don't feel much sympathy anymore. For a country that had access to vaccines before most and still fail is beyond words.

Maybe WDW should offer an incentive.

15-20 years ago, the early bird gets the worm ( aka fast passes ). At rope drop guests sprint or speed walk to various fast pass locations to get the coveted FBs. Tell your friends while calling them on your flip phone .

Maybe give 1 FastPass each day if you can prove you're fully vaccinated.

Usually the individual hospital is best equipped to determine their need to postpone or reschedule appointments or procedures, based off of their own emergency management plan. I wasn’t a fan of when the governor did this before.

I only laugh cause it's what they deserve. Maybe instead of focusing on being open for business they should have focused on getting people vaccinated.

And i would disagree with you on many of those laws. No need to keep sliding down the slope here. But your right in care settings it matters. Those institutions should keep everything tight. But disney world? Or publix? No need.

There absolutely is a need. The last few pages have been all about that need.

Look, persuasion won't work, and as things get worse, it will work less. If someone changes there mind now, it means they have to acknowledge some responsibility for a very bad situation they might previously have pretended didn't exist. It means they have to consider that the pundits and politicians they trust were wrong, at the least misinformed and most like callously lying in the face of massive suffering. It calls into question all the other things those pundits and politicians have said. Even worse, it means their "enemies" were right.

That's a lot to ask of anyone, and most people won't do it. But getting vaccinated to save their job or be allowed in WDW? Yeah, they'll do that, especially if it allows them to hold onto all their other beliefs.

I see the logic in that stance, but I suspect if Texas is taking this step, things are very bad indeed. It is not something that particular state's government seemed eager to do. Having the state government issue the request may provide cover for the hospitals, allowing them to take the steps they feel necessary more easily and with less fear of an agitated public.

The hospitals already have that leverage though, through their own Emergency Operation Plan and existing CMS guidelines. That’s what confuses me. State, county and local health and government officials are there to provide support with facility requests…not make those requests. I would think some hospitals managing the load would bristle at this…or just flat out ignore it. The ones not managing it have most likely already implemented this part of their plan.

Great idea in theory. I would support every place of employment requiring their employees to be vaccinated. Unfortunately there is a whole lot more to it that just making it required. A whole, whole lot.

Obviously not every place of business will do this, that is part of the freedom, but the other is that major companies and federal agencies are already making it required.

Then watch insurance incentives or penalties kick in. That is going to convince or cost some people.
