For those who think that things are being blow out of proportion, according to the CDC, without preventive measures:

"Between 160 million and 214 million people in the United States could be infected over the course of the epidemic, according to one projection. That could last months or even over a year, with infections concentrated in shorter periods, staggered across time in different communities, experts said. As many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die.

"And, the calculations based on the C.D.C.’s scenarios suggested, 2.4 million to 21 million people in the United States could require hospitalization, potentially crushing the nation’s medical system, which has only about 925,000 staffed hospital beds. Fewer than a tenth of those are for people who are critically ill. "

A group of my friends/kid’s classmates are going to Great Wolf Lodge for a few days next week. So far 6 families... not sure how many more will end up going. So far GWL has not announced any closings.
People don’t want to sit home.
That place is a hot-spot waiting to happen...chlorinated water or not. It's also irresponsible of all of them and Great Wolf Lodge.

ETA: Whether one WANTS to sit home is irrelevant. Pure selfishness during a health crisis.

You officially have a gambling problem if you are betting on UFC, Mexican soccer or cricket...and this is coming from a guy who once bet on the WNBA when some dude who was drunk out of his mind gave me a hot tip at a late night craps table. Vegas must be really hurting right now and half those companies own big casinos in Hong Kong too which already got nailed.

I'm not a gambler, but I made a friend quite a lot of money on mma when I followed 8 years or so ago. If you know what's going on, it's much easier than most sports.

This type of behavior continues to spread the contagion. This is why I am glad Disney World finally stepped up and closed. People get off school or work and then just head straight for the mall or some other fun activity that is in a gathering. Defeats whole purpose of self quarantiing.

You guys realize that we aren’t in a quarantine, right? Businesses are still open. People are still around each other, just hopefully taking more precautions.

So much has been cancelled, some of it probably wise, some probably an overreaction. I will be working all next week and I’m also still sore from the aftermath of pneumonia, so I can’t go.. but I do not begrudge that group of people at all. Be cautious, be responsible, but don’t pretend like it’s suddenly illegal to go anywhere outside of your home.

Maybe GWL locations will end up closing, I don’t know. I do know that a friend’s family decided last minute to go today after school for the weekend, and then her pics prompted a plan. As of now they’re open, with no announcements to close as of yet.. I do hope those families get to enjoy a couple of nights.

Well, now I know that a global pandemic is what it takes for me to get my first Passholder email in 8 years. So many ride previews missed.
Lucky you! I'm still waiting for mine. I haven't received a printed Mickey Monitor in over a year either. 🤷‍♀️

Tests are supposed to be in good supply in the coming days, yes?

I’m hoping this really happens.. at that point we will have a better idea what’s really going on. I also think it will put a lot of people at ease.

It pretty much already is. People just need to do their parts and follow suggestions from the professionals and this will be over a lot faster. A few selfish people can drag this thing out and hurt a lot more people in the process, not to mention worsen the economic situation.

It’s not though. Do you think all businesses should close?
I think that we can limit a spread without complete lockdown.. hopefully.

Okay, now multiply those families by multiple thousands...and it will make the effort of closing the schools useless. Avoiding large gatherings includes avoiding places like Great Wolf Lodge, movie theaters, etc. etc.

It's not though. There are still plenty of places around here in western NY that are still open. Disney isn't even all the way closed. Planes/trains/buses/subways all still running. It's not just a few selfish people.

Italy went on lock down to fix the issue. There are rumors it is coming for the US. So why not just do it now and get it over with before things get worse?
