Coronado Vs French Quarter?

Hi, I'm having trouble deciding between Coronado and Port Orleans French Quarter. I have been to Coronado multiple times and loved it. At the same time, I want to try something new. Does anyone recommend I try Port Orleans over Coronado, if so why? I also have questions like, do the buses get overly swamped in the morning, or does the meagerness of the resort prevent that?

Any info is appreciated, thanks!

We stayed at POFQ last summer and loved it so much it is where we are staying on our next trip. We had no issues with the buses, but I will add we live in a city and use public transportation frequently so that influences my take on buses. Thinking about it, over a week’s stay I think I only had to stand once on the bus (though I can’t remember if others in our party of six stood more than that but if so, only once or twice more than me).

Because it is a smaller resort it is also quieter - which meant more wildlife was around and I loved seeing the bunnies on the grass in the early morning when I went for coffee or in the evenings coming home. Overall we felt we had a more “relaxing” stay and I attribute that to the calmness of the resort.

We stay at POFQ often and happen to be going back in a little over a week. The buses aren't usually full. Most of the time the buses will go directly to the parks first thing in the morning. At times a driver will go from POFQ to POR and pick up at stops there. We've experienced that mostly in the later morning or afternoon runs. when they go to POR it does add onto the time to arrive to a park. Its fairly centralized to all the parks so riding time is minimal.
We haven't stayed at Coronado so I can't address the differences but POFQ is very relaxing. It's a quiet resort, great service from the CM's. The food court is good but there are better options at POR. There is no resort restaurant but Boatwright is at POR. You only have a short walk on a walking path to go over to POR. There is a boat service to DS. There is evening entertainment at both resorts. The Beignets are fantastic.
We've found it to be a resort we stay when we do not go Deluxe.

I’ve stayed at all the moderates over the years and both Port Orleans are by far my favorite!

French Quarter has a live jazz band, beignets, relaxing boat ride to Disney Springs, and a really charming resort theme with fountains and garden areas.

I’d also say the single bus stop makes it a big win vs. all the other moderates.

The single bus stop was my only concern but I’ve only heard people say positive things about it, thanks for the information.

They have 2 bus station areas next to each other that split the parks. You have to watch which park loads at which spot. Station A is for AK, EP,DS and water parks. Station B is for MK and DHS. They have screens that tells you estimated arrivals.
Some times there will be a CM stationed at the stations to help coordinate things for guests.

I have stayed at both resorts, and prefer POFQ by a large margin! The "vibe" at Coronado and the size of the resort didn't appeal to us.
We have stayed at POFQ many times and absolutely love it. The small footprint of the resort makes it feel cozy. The food court has good food and the gift shop is small, but nice. Their pool is really nice too. We love the cobblestone "streets" and the sound of the horses hooves on the cobblestones. We first saw POFQ on a carriage ride from POR, and we were sold on it! My husband has mobility issues so the closeness of everthing was appreciated.
The bus stops worked out very well for us. The buses were on time and we never had to wait a long time for one.
POR never shared buses with us when we visited over the years.
Of course, the boat to DS is a big draw for both POR and POFQ. It's so nice to just get on the boat and take the serene ride to DS, or to POR. You can use the pools at either POR or POFQ if you stay there. I guess you could say that I lean towards POFQ, lol.

Have stayed at both and we absolutely love POFQ. It is the perfect resort - I love the charm and the small size, great QS, beignets, boat to Disney Springs, short walk to POR, great pool. It is so peaceful and never feels crowded, even when booked to capacity. No matter where your room is, you aren't far from anything. CSR is huge in comparison - it was a one and done for us.

I would vote for POFQ every time. The resort is very peaceful and not too large. The rooms are nice and it is such an enjoyable resort. While both have water features, I always feel that FQ (and Riverside) has better water fountains that really add to the ambiance. I haven't had trouble with the bus service to/from the parks at either FQ or Riverside. FQ wins a little because it only has the one stop. Coronado has multiple stops and that might not the best, if that sort of thing bugs you. The multiple stops definitely adds to the time on bus (unless you get on at the last stop).

Glad to hear all this about Port Orleans. We have family coming in June and are gonna stay at Riverside for a few days so we can bring our dog instead of having to drive back home every day.

Always good to try something new but I think if you have been to CSR multiple times, you may be left underwhelmed when it comes to restaurant and lounge options, main pool, and other amenities.

I think I’ll like quaint characteristics of the resort, we are usually in the parks too often to even use the pool or other amenities found at Coronado.
