Our trip begins mid-afternoon on Monday the 26th. Our flight didn’t leave until 5:30 p.m., so we both went to work that day. To say my attention span was lacking is a gigantic understatement! I got our room-ready text at 1:00 p.m. and I couldn’t wait to go and pick Mark up and head off to the airport. It would be a long night ahead as we had a layover and wouldn’t even land in Orlando until 10, but at that point I knew I wouldn’t care!

We gave ourselves plenty of time to park the car, shuttle to the airport, check our bags and get through security. Of course, it was one of those days where we wouldn’t need all that extra time as it took us 45 minutes TOTAL to get park, shuttle to the airport and get through security. Gotta love small airports ;). So we stopped to get some food since we weren’t sure we would have enough time to get any during our layover.

The first flight was uneventful and got us to BWI with no issues. We had enough time to wander around for a bit, get a drink and then get in line for our next plane to board. The boarding felt like it took forever, but we realized that was because there were a lot of wheelchairs boarding the plane so it took some extra time. That would actually be a recurring theme throughout our trip :banghead:

Oh, Connecticut, how I love your views.

Nevertheless, we landed safely and our bags actually came off the carriage within a few minutes. That NEVER happens to me. We got to the DME at 10:11, boarded at 10:26, and left at 10:44. Not too bad at all. There were 7 of us total on the bus, and 6 of us were heading to POP so that was the first stop :)

When we arrived I stopped at the front desk quickly to pick up a package from Amazon I had preordered for us (bottles of water, breakfast bars, etc). and then we were off to the 60’s. My first preference for rooms were those closest to the transportation, and the 60’s wing was it! We just had to walk straight past the pool, into the main lobby and out the door on the other side to the bus stop. Perfect. The other bonus was we were on the far side of the pool which leads directly to the bridge that takes you to Art of Animation, which would come to be VERY helpful this trip.

This is a TERRIBLE picture, but you get the idea ;) WE'RE HERE!!

I’ve stayed at POP before, so I knew what to expect. I think Mark was a little thrown by just how VALUE the value resorts are hahaha.

However, even though I have stayed there previously and I understand I am paying a value price for smaller rooms, fewer amenities, being farther from the parks, etc., I accept all that without issue. What I don’t accept is lack of cleanliness. The room wasn’t bad at all except for one of the foot covers they put at the end of the bed. We had the standard 2 double beds, and on the extra bed the foot cover looked like it had some small blood stains on it.
upload_2016-10-5_13-39-26.png

That really grossed me out. I was too tried to address it then, and like I said, it wasn’t on the bed we were going to sleep in so I just wrote a nice note to the Mousekeepers and asked that they get rid of it since we really didn’t need it anyways. Not a huge deal, and I was just glad to be there!

Day 1, Tuesday the 27th, Magic Kingdom and Epcot

Good morning, POP!

I had never seen the Welcome Show at Magic Kingdom before, so it was on my list of “must-do” things while we were there. Even though we didn't get in bed until 1:00 a.m. we still got ourselves up and out the door by 7:20. The park didn’t open until 9, but I know I should plan for at least an hour of travel time. This is the one time we didn’t need the hour buffer during the whole trip.

The line waiting for the MK bus. I was a little surprised at the amount of people already waiting.

Even though the lines at the bus stop were longer than we had anticipated, we got to Magic Kingdom by 7:50. We had a great viewing spot for the show! It was really adorable and I’m glad I got to see it.

The next couple posts will be mostly pictures. Mark didn't think it was possible that I would take more than 400 pictures this trip. He grossly underestimated.

My plan of attack: Hit up Peter Pan’s Flight first because there is no way I would be able to convince Mark to wait more than 30 minutes for it, and I knew that’s what we would be facing if we didn’t do it right away. It only took us 10 minutes to get through the line and it ended up being one of his favorite rides! He said it felt the most like Disney out of all the rides. Also, I hadn’t seen the new queue yet, and I loved it! That definitely has to help when the wait times exceed an hour!

How could I NOT get this picture??

I have the Tower Bridge as a LEGO set as well :) *they need a nerd emoji here!*

Next stop was The Voyage of the Little Mermaid! I was really excited to see the new Fantasyland area since it was under construction the last time I was in Magic Kingdom. On our walk we stopped in front of Gaston's tavern for a quick pic. Mark loves villains, so this was a must.

To my surprise, there was no wait for The Voyage of the Little Mermaid! The wait was as long as it took us to walk through . It was awesome! This was my first time experiencing this ride and I loved it. it's not like the ride itself is anything incredibly groundbreaking, but I could ride just for the music alone all day long.

After that, I promised Mark we would go get some coffee, so over to Main St. Bakery for some much needed caffeine!
Starbucks Round 1.JPG

Very happy!
Starbucks Round 1.2.JPG

We continued walking on toward Adventureland while sipping our yummy caffeine-filled drinks. We checked out Jungle Cruise but it was a 30-minute wait so we passed. This would also be a recurring theme throughout the trip. :banghead:

Caught a glimpse of Aladdin and Jasmine on the way!
Adventureland 2.jpg

I checked the MDE app and Pirates had a 15 minute wait so we had to do it. Mark loves Pirates...I love the ride...perfect combination! The wait was closer to 10 minutes or maybe even shorter, so that was even better!

He's got his Starbucks and Pirates, that's one happy customer right there!
Pirates 1.jpg

But why is the rum gone?
Pirates 2.jpg

On our way out we caught the beginning of the Captain Jack Sparrow show. We stayed and watched for about 10 minutes, but we didn’t have kids participating and it was getting really hot just standing there.

He was a very good Captain Jack!

It was nearing our first FastPass+ anyways. So we headed to Tomorrowland for our first FP+ at Space Mountain!
