My reaction after researching Disneyland's attractions/restaurants/shops...and then looking at our Adventureland...

:hilarious:

It's like an entire park!:p
Is that a good thing? Whats Paradise Falls? Are we scraping the ghost ship? I have missed a lot. Again. A lot of work happens overnight for me so it's hard.

Nothing wrong at all! All part of the process. Someone had mentioned for the Lost Coast a Paradise Falls substitute. Paradise Falls from the movie Up and i had an attraction for it already written up from last year.

Ghost ship/Pirates is still there in full. Though now begins the process as Tom had said of narrowing our focus and picking out the best attractions to fill out the land without being too bloated.

Alrighty so I will elaborate on this now. Below is a cumulative list of all the ideas we had come up with for Adventureland. We did the same thing for the other lands as well. This is to help us organize our thoughts, and give us some perspective on how much content we have.

Adventureland

Attractions
The Enchanted Tiki Room Dark Ride - D-Ticket (Tiki Island)
Moana Boat Ride - D-Ticket (Tiki Island)
Moana Show - C-Ticket (Tiki Island)
Aladdin Dark Ride - D-Ticket (Arabian Coast)
Aladdin Magic Carpets - B-Ticket (Arabian Coast)
Cave of Wonders Walk-Through - A-Ticket (Arabian Coast)
Indiana Jones and the ____ _____ - E-Ticket (Lost Coast)
Lost World Expedition: The Search for Tarrant Ramn - E-Ticket (Lost Coast)

Balloon Stand - Gift Shop (Paradise Falls)
Dead Man's Chest - Attraction Gift Shop (Isla Tortuga)
Adventureland Mercado - Gift Shop (Isla Tortuga)

The Disneyland/Magic Kingdom attraction/restaurant/shop lists -- are to further help us put in perspective what a realistic park of our size would have. If we can somewhat meet Disneyland/Magic Kingdom numbers wise...it would be a feasible park. If we double the attractions of both, or have too many table service....to me personally, I don't see the point of spending all this time/effort into something that is wildly unrealistic. Especially when we have an actual Disney imagineer advising us otherwise. While an Australia park may never happen...at least the way we designed it would be a feasible plan.

So with all of these lists -- I'd like us to come together this week to try and narrow down the lists

If we can narrow down our Adventureland into something that looks more akin to the real adventurelands (shoot for something a little bigger, but not too big, than those examples above)...we will be in great shape!:) And your suggestions for how to narrow it down will have a lot of say since you're the sub-lead for the land.

I think we should make a solid choice. Ramn or Indy. Two E-tickets with similar ideas and characters in the same subland... yeah. Maybe downgrade Tiki Room to a Fantasyland C. Make up for it by increasing Moana to an E. I actually had an idea for a Moana boat ride during a restoring the Heart of Te Fiti scene where a hologram Moana is walking in front of our boat and a massive AA Te Kā that turns into Te Fiti when her heart is restored.

Definitely -- Lost World and Indy are very similar -- and I feel that there are too many E's in the land. 2-3 I think should be the max in a given area. And I say that because Disneyland has Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Splash all right next to each other.

I'm perfectly fine with as many Es as we want in an area. My big problem is the fact that Ramn/Indy are too similar which ended up being a big criticism with our location choice in the challenge Lost World Expedition was for

Another thing for Ramn is that the Geyser Mountain concept we have travels back to the time of the dinosaurs...and with that being next-door I'm not sure about the storyline of Tarrant Ramn being too similar to another attraction as well. Of course we could always alter Geyser a bit to blend in more fluidly.

I think that we can get away with. One's a Lost World story and the other one is time travel. Just different enough to make a distinction.

I am in agreement to make this a park with numbers similar to other actual Magic Kingdom parks. I thought that was the plan anyway that these lists would eventually be narrowed down.

If I could make one suggestion. I don't think Pleasure Island is necessary. Either that or just have Villains Land be Pleasure Island. That land feels very disjointed and disorganized with different animation style villains populating a small area.

I concur in that I do feel it is a bit all over the place. Maybe that's why a Villains Land has never gotten built haha.

But I do think most of it is salvageable especially with the Villains Academy and stage show tying all Villains together. And I do like the concept of a Bald Mountain coaster.

I do hope this process isn't throwing people a curveball...I thought this was understood based on Tom's feedback that this is the natural progression we were going in for the brainstorming. We come up with more ideas than we need then pick the best ones...I would like to hear from some more people though before continuing so I'll pump the brakes for a bit on brainstorming and allow others to respond with their input.

For our Adventureland, based on @spacemt354's ticket breakdown, I think it'd be realistic to have something like:

E
E
D
C
B/A
B/A

With maybe only 3 sub-lands for now, each with a feature D or E. Between Indy and Lost World, which ride type is more distinctive within our park? The fourth sub-land won't be lost entirely, but can be an expansion pad for 10 or 15 years into the park's lifespan. And I feel POTC is crucial for any castle park (Hong Kong ain't got one), so that's a must. I could see Moana go D, and Tiki Room C.

For the park as a whole, we have roughly 8 or 9 lands (depending on how the entry/hub stuff counts). Each land should have one headliner E-ticket, with one or two lands having an additional E (Adventureland is one of those).

Possibly one of our in-development lands could also be earmarked as a major expansion project for the park's near future, like its Mystic Point or Grizzly Gulch. Pacific Wharf, like NOS, would make a viable candidate for later addition, though we'll still develop it fully now.

Nice! I agree with all this! What I think we could do is like you said, develop the park in full --- but have a timeline of expansion. So for instance a 20 year plan. If the park opens in 2023...this would be the opening day lineup...then the plan through 2043. So that we have our "full" park still placed at the end!

And for the sub-lands I'll call on the opinions of the sub-leads

Like @D Hindley for Pacific Wharf....to be honest I don't think Pacific Wharf needs to be narrowed in terms of attractions persay...I think the main narrow would be in the dining options. Maybe 1 table service, 1 main Quick service and the rest being smaller Quick Service food carts?
On narrowing Pacific Wharf.

I'd anticipated whinnowing the restaurants. The first draft list was a "foodie heaven" thing like DL's New Orleans, which it will remain to an extent.

Only table service - Club 32

Quick service - Mandarin Kitchen (fuse the two Chinatown eateries into one, somehow maintain dim sum as quick service)

Additional quick service - Sydney Duck's Saloon (it's too thematically tied-in to lose...actual food is done "food stand style" like DL's Golden Horseshoe, with the show/attraction component justifying the additional space used)

Food stand - Sarah's Sourdough Shack

Food stand - Bayside Bites & Confectionary

Least essential food stand (we can cut it if needed) - Trolley Tacos

For attractions, I fear there might wind up being a little redundancy between Museum of the Weird and the in-development Chinatown dark ride, so eventually we might fuse those ideas rather than lose one.

Shops can be culled later with ease.
