Citizens of Hollywood Cuts

The Citizens of Hollywood seem to be in a constant state of up and down sizing.

If you look back through the forums, over the years you'll see many times there have been posts about them being cut, then they tend to reform and increase in numbers. 29 seems a lot for streetsmosphere. Some of the newer acts have not been all that good in my opinion, so perhaps this isn't the worst thing to happen recently.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! This was my biggest fear when the cuts were rumored. The Citizens are by far my favorite "pop-up entertainment" on property. I could stand and listen to them for hours on end because they just make everyone laugh who's watching.

I imagine they'll be getting rid of the film crew, which has a few good actors, but nothing quite like the actual citizens most are thinking of.

Thanks for the info!

I've been following all the info on the price hikes and cast cuts and if the cuts are in fact members of the Citizens of Hollywood this will be the most disappointing cut yet. As an annual passholder, my family and I will spend hours going from one Citizens of Hollywood or Public Works performance to another and not even going on one ride. Our day in DHS revolves around their showtimes. I remember the days that their performances went to 6:00 instead of the last show at 3pm. We've gotten to know Paige Turner, Dorma Nesmond, and the original Shelby Mayor over the years. These actors and actresses are incredible at what they do and it is an absolute shame that Disney does not see the importance of these shows and the crowds they attract at each show time - show times that are not even advertised. In a time when attractions at DHS are very limited and even when all the new attractions are finally available, the Citizens of Hollywood will always be one of our favorite attractions in all of WDW and I hope that Disney realizes how loved they all are.

I'm still in the "wait and see" camp. Seeing as they list 29 current streetmosphere performers, I assume that number includes the Citizens of Hollywood and the Public Works and the Hollywood Studios Film Crew. And I wouldn't be shocked if all 10 that are being cut are from the Film Crew. People crowd around to watch the Citizens interact with one another; the Film Crew can't even force people to interact with them when they practically beg. They are no longer used as the Fantasmic pre-show and their flash mobs never seem well-received (whether it's before a parade or even right at center stage), so I could easily see them finally getting the axe. Honestly not even totally sure that this is a budget cut if that's the case.

Hmmm...still not a happy thing for those affected, but this would be more acceptable than losing from CoH/HPW. I've only seen the modern crew out once other than as the pre-show for F! and even then they didn't seem to be able to draw attention (not even mine). Again, not happy for those affected, but they wouldn't be missed (because I never really saw them anyway).

I always tell people (and have mentioned it several times in these forums) that I could easily make DHS a full day park by doing nothing more than hitting a few attractions early, stalking CoH/HPW mid-day, then F! at night. In fact...we've done pretty much that on one trip and looking forward to seeing them on our next trip. Some of the best fun we've had in DHS was watching and participating in their shows (everyone in my family has been involved in at least one show). It will be very sad if they were cut completely.

This is not cool! Very disappointed by this. I hope they keep Paige turner as she has been there for a long time. Such a shame!

Carlotta Diamonds is my girl, but I feel she has been abducted and held for ransom elsewhere because she hasn't been around in years. ;)

True, the Streetmosphere have been fluctuating in numbers up and down for some time now. Always hope these characters stay around.

Unfortunately, it looks like Hollywood Public Works had had their last show earlier today. :-( I wonder who else is cut.

Yes, somehow the modern film crew is continuing, while the public works and a handful of other citizens had their last days yesterday. Completely flabbergasted how that decision could have been made. Especially if the park is supposed to be moving away from the whole studio/production theme.

That's unfortunate. The public works crew was much more enjoyable IMO.
