Changes to SSE

As most of you all know, Siemens is now going to be the Sponsor of Spaceship Earth. With all that going on, it got me (and the rest of the SSE cast) thinking as to what changes they'll want to make to the ride when it goes down for refurbishment. Hear-say says that Siemens wants a return to the "classic-style" Spaceship Earth, possibly even with the old Cronkitie narration. I think, with just a few changes in the placement of the audio, and some updated scenes at the very end, it could very easily be done. I also hear they want to take down the "Epcot" wand/hand/tower (thank Walt!). Of course this is all rumor, but I would like to hear what other people would like to see in an update.

I would like to see some more futuristic stuff. I mean Siemens has some great products and some greater ideas that I would like to see them share for us. Maybe some of the possibilities with their future cells phones or something.

personally, i would like them to make some technology advances in the ride itself. in the ride, it showcases the development of how humans communicate...and i think the ride could go even further with this because when this ride was refurbished to include the modern things at the end....that was a while back.

...and things have changed, but i like the idea of making it "classic".

just dont make the technology on the inside "classic", cuz thats really the last thing we need.

I dont really mind the wand, but i wont miss it if its gone.

P.S. i think they should make the audio quality much better, and the speakers better. and if the seats were more comfortable that would be sweet. It would also be a neat idea if this ride was interactive, and u could choose what language you wanted to listen to it in. thats my 2 cents,

No offense...but this makes absolutely no sense. Why would a company involved in technology and communication want to go back 10 years? I would think if changes are going to be made they would be in making changes that would showcase future developments.

The only MAJOR thing I would like to see happen to SSE is for them to fix those annoying bumps in the track. Every 5 seconds or so your ride is interrupted by a jolt. It's can't be too difficult to fix I imagine.

Thats because there are so many different lifts in the ride.

Fixing that would require gutting the entire ride system, so yes, its a difficult fix.

I didn't mean that they'd make the ride exactly how it was pre-1994. However, you can put the Walter Cronkite narration back in, put "Tomorrow's Child" back in, and still showcase new technologies on the way back down (like they used to with the TV monitors in the Finale Corridor).

Haha, from what a maintenance CM told me, the reason this happens now is because Disney took out the shock absorbers from the motors, so every few feet, when you go over the motor, it gives you a nice bump. It evidently was EXTREEMELY expensive to maintain these shock absorbers, but if Siemens wants to pay for them to go back in the ride, well, that's fine by me :sohappy: .

Ohh....yeah....Tomorrow's Child....nothing like late 70's-style music to keep that attraction current

I am wondering just what "Classic SSE" means. There is one way to read that as saying bring back the old. However, when I think of that, it suggested to me that the trends against dramatic changes to the attraction would be "New SSE" and the omni-mover style ride (what we have now) would be "Classic SSE." Perhaps a major renovation instead of an overhaul is in the works. I would love a new version of "Tomorrow's Child" to come in, but anything that could maintain the grandeur of this attraction with its classic feeling is welcome by me.

Also.....if anyone here thinks that the BEST WDI can do is return attractions to their old versions.....the department should be eliminated.....as that takes no creativity.

some people do not understand there is a difference between "classic" and "old" :)
LOL

Epcot82guy is right, please define Classic SSE...

SSE wil always be a classic ride, no matter what happens...I think that Siemens means, a good classic POST happening, like there were with AT&T
