Changes(good) at Disneyland Park!

During the latest rehabs, several great changes have occured around Disneyland park.

Haunted Mansion: new wheelchair entrance and some of the outside queue has been changed (ghost hearse moved). Also, the ballroom has been slightly rethemed, receiving new furniture.

Matterhorn Bobsleds: During the just-completed rehab, one of the two tracks received a small, new show scene--the Abominable Snowman's home. No word on which track got this addition.

it's a small world: Along with its recent new paint job, this attraction has received a cool new lighting scheme, like you see on the castles.

Disney Gallery: Starting March 1, 2003, a kewl new Pirates of the Caribbean exhibit will be presented, featuring 50 pieces of concept art from the disney vault, never before seen, that guests may make a copy of (for a fee).

And, of course, the King Arthur Carousel will have a new look when it reopens next month.

Also, the current problems on Aladdin have been the opposite of what some people on here predicted--the show is VERY popular, with people lining up nearly two hours in advance, lines going all the way down Hollywood Boulevard and back up to Superstar Limo--Disney has been turning people away, because the theatre is not big enough for the crowds (or, rather, not enough shows are presented). Possibilities include opening up Hollywood Pictures Backlot with the rest of the park, at 10:00 am and not 11:30am, allowing for another showing daily. This is one reason Superstar Limo will reopen--to give these people something else to do in this land before the Tower opens in a year.

Finally, Disney's Eureka! will return to Disney's California Adventure this summer--no official word on Fantasmic!, but I would assume it, too, will have a limited summer running.

That's about all that is confirmed.

Rumors suggest that while Space Mountain will receive new track during its upcoming 18 month rehab (starting Labor Day of this year), the track layout will, in fact, be the same as the current layout--just new metal and a brand new, more high-tech theme. Other than that, all that seems to be confirmed for the 50th is a new firework show to replace the current Believe...and a new daytime parade.

Final note--the weather is still amazing in Anaheim--sunny every day and temps reach the upper 70s near 80. Definitely the place to be--perhaps why disney has been trying to get these refurbishments done on time for once (Haunted Mansion actually opened as scheduled...). Splash Mountain goes down for a minor rehab in February, and will, hopefully, reopen by March 10. Meanwhile, Mad Tea Party and Rivers of America will stay closed through late March, with Pirates of the Caribbean closing late April through May. Only other upcoming refurbishment is the Indiana Jones Adventure, this fall.

Bout all for Disneyland!
