Change at French Quarter?

I was giving 2026 quotes to two different clients yesterday and both were interested in French Quarter. In both situations, early February and mid August, the only room choices were standard, preferred and king bed. River view, garden view and pool view were all unavailable. At first I thought maybe the website was just busy or a lot of agents had rooms on hold. But I checked again this morning and put in several random 2026 dates and it’s all the same. Only standard, preferred and king were options. I haven’t checked other resorts but it seems Disney is maybe simplify room choices?

Yes, this is happening.

I'm not quite sure what this means for each resort, is it really just referring to location? And in that case, does it mean rooms closer to lobby (which preferred has always been) or does it include things like pool view, water view, wood view as well. French Quarter has not had a preferred category before as far as I'm aware as it's a small resort. If you book a standard room at eitehr PO resort, does this mean you always get the car park view or is it pot luck whether you get the woods view, river view etc and all those have to go in as special requests if you want them?

My understanding is that it is completely based on location, preferred being closer to the main building. You can request a certain view if you want. The only bookable category is the Royal rooms at Riverside. Very strange you can no longer book a 5th sleeper. You will automatically be assigned one if your party has 5 people. But I know a lot of people like to book a 5th sleeper as a family of 4 so their kids don’t have to share a bed.

It's a bit odd becasue Disney capitalised on the oft-requested or "nicer" rooms by offering them as a separate category for a higher price. But maybe price rises across the board are masking that apparent loss of income!

Just wondering, how do people get building 4? Is there a specific room type that you have to stay in or do you call in and request it?

I think simplifying it might be smart. If inventory is effected by a broken toilet or something in a category with a view it can be hard to find a replacement room. This simple categories set up makes it less likely someone is disappointed in "what they paid for".

during our last few stays there, we booked a room with a king bed & requested to be close to the food court, lobby, etc, & always got building 4. it’s a great location. i guess you can request it, but it’s not guaranteed. we just got lucky each time.

One of the big reasons we love POFQ is the ability to get a river view, one of the most beautiful views on property, that’s no longer a guarantee? we can just request it and hope the request is granted?

Another idiotic decision by Disney.
