Hey all I am VERY sorry to put up another topic about the strom, but I just have to or it is going to bug me forever. Does anyone have a pic of the castle from Saturday in the morning? I have a dear old friend that was yelling at me saying that she has friends at the park and the spires were removed from the castle. I have been on a tour where it was told to my face that it can not happen but she wont take my word for it. Please if someone has one could you post it on here? I have looked through almost all the other topcis and did not find one and that is the only reason I am posting this now.

I am also very very happy that everyone is safe. I have been through a major earthquake here and understand what it is like for your world to change due to something like that.

No the spires cannot be removed in the event of a hurricane nor be removed at all. This is one of the most common WDW myths, just like how the spires are actually missile sillows  .She was proably pulling your leg or she was confused.

she is very confused...when she saw saying that too me I was laughing like yeah sure. Then I said wiat you know they can't do that and she was serious about it. So now I need a pic to show her she was wrong.

In fact, during the hurricane, I was watching the Travel Channel (before our power went out!), and it was explaining that the spires cannot be removed in case of a hurricane. . .

I am SO happy to hear that the parks are now open, I am assuming without such extreme damage.

The castle is fine. There's no visable damage to it.

The only things that ive seen damage to are trees (everywhere!) and that boat that was in front of the american adventure, it was removed last night after its main mast and sails were snapped off. The rigging was in the lagoon.

The lagoon at Epcot still appears to be a foot to 2 feet above its normal level.

From a good news perspective, Illuminations went off without a hitch.... granted a few timing glitches, but thats the norm these days.

It is true that the castle cannot be taken apart.... that and their is no freezer under the castle holding anyone and the military doesn't use it for missiles against cuba....

The castle is held together to withstand a category five hurricaine if one would come through... which i hope stays away from Tampa and orlando... let alone all of FLA....

I know - tell her you heard about someone who took pictures of the castle with the spires taken off but they were still on the roll of film in his camera that the aliens confiscated when they abducted him! :D

*sigh*, no2apprentice, now that you've posted that evidence, I'll admit it. . .

Next time you're in the castle, check out the door that says:

NEVER
OPEN...
REQUIRED
AUTHORIZATION
DOOR

Take the first letter of each word....NORAD. Behind this door is a complete command and control center reinforced with 4 foot concrete and steel walls and posters of Michael Jackson.

(I would tell you more but they're calling me to take my medicine. The lobotomy was a success and the medicine prevents me from using a one-hole punch on my eyelids.)

May the force be with you!

Okay Grizz, I have to thank you for this - the biggest laugh I've had since the infamous F&G altercation thread. Of course my teenage son is now researching room availability at Tramp's rubber room resort for me. Did poor Tumbleweed12 ever come back??

And my husband is in the Army - AND a helicopter pilot - so I know stuff. :zipit:

*laughs* I watched the same thing! Heh. I had never even heard of that before the special. It seemed so absurd that I couldn't believe that it's a common myth! I mean, really...removing parts of the building? Seems so far-fetched.

I saw that special on the Travel Channel as well! It was definitely more informative and entertaining than that last one............It brought to my attention all of the good things that Michael Eisner did for Walt Disney World. It is a shame that the Michael Eisner of the past no longer exists. It is definitely time for a change!
