What is the air temperature like at Castway Cay in December? I know the water may be chilly, but is it generally warm otherwise? Warm enough for Spring a Leak?

I've been to Castaway Cay in January, May, & September. In January the air temperature was comfortably warm without being hot. Like low 80s. I've heard of cool, chilly days that time of year, tho. I imagine December will be somewhat similar to going to Florida that time of year. Perhaps a little warmer or more likely to be warm. It can be hit or miss. The water temperature in January was cool. We anticipated that and brought spring suits. Plenty of people were swimming without them, tho. Once you got in the water it was fine.

Personally I don't care if I actually get in the water or not. I know the kids will want to play in the sand. They also had alot of fun at Spring-A-Leak. If the air temps are warm, I think it will be ok.

We have been in December twice and we had two extremes. Our first December trip the morning at Castaway Cay was chilly, upper 50's. The temperature never went above 70 all day, so we never went into the water, but it was the most beautiful blue sky I have ever seen. We went biking and hiking that day.

On our second December trip it was in the low 70's in the morning, but made it up to the low 80's in the afternoon. Again a gorgeous day. The children dragging Dad kicking and screaming into the cold water did go to do Pelican Plunge that day. Basically, in December you have to plan for both .

I have been in January and while the air temperature was nice, the water temperature was like the water in the Shark Reef at TL if not a little colder. You got use to it if you got in it, but once you got out, you did not want to go back in.

Sounds like I just need to release both kids to the counselors and let them deal with it. ;)
Well yeah! We coulda saved this whole conversation! LOL! Mom & Dad find a couple hammocks with fruity drinks in hand....what kids???? LOL! J/K! We bought spring suits when we went in January. They weren't too terribly expensive. I need to dig out the youngest son's to resell. He's grown so much there's no way he'll ever wear it again. If we do another winter voyage (fairly likely) we have the others already.
