Car runs red light and hits Disney bus. 5/10/10

Talk about bad luck, Disney can't seem to go too long without something going wrong. I hope everyone is okay. I see people run red lights all the time, to some the lights appear to be a mere suggestion, I guess. Too bad this happened! :(

What surprises me the most about this is that they didn't mention "Last July, 21-year-old monorail pilot Austin Wuennenberg was killed when a monorail crashed head-on into the monorail he was piloting."

So, how long before someone blames this on lack of training for WDW Transportation employees? :brick:

Heads will roll at Disney Transportation for this clear lack of foresight by the Disney bus driver.

While the driver of the automobile will be cited for a traffic violation, there is a bit of truth in your statement. If the point of impact on the bus was near the front end, the driver could have possibly seen that the oncoming car was not stopping and have taken some evasive action. One of the tenets of defensive driving is that most accidents are preventable even if you aren't found to be at fault from a legal standpoint.:lookaroun

I read the story on all the major news outlets and know that intersection very well. If the bus had a green arrow and was hit from behind then the car that hit it also had a green arrow. So at this point the articles make little sense

The only exception to that would be if the bus was turning left into Typhoon from Buena Vista Drive and the offending vehicle was coming out of the DTD westside parking lot. In that case the bus driver would have never seen the car.

I was trying to find pics or video of the accident but apparently no one has decided to post them even though Channel 6 was hovering overhead for quite a while.

Don't worry someone on these boards is going to blam Disney transportation anyway
It is all Disney's fault. They should install Speed Raceresque jacks in all the buses so cars running red lights can simply be jumped over.:D

between patrons getting run down by the ferry boat and people running into Disney Buses, sounds like people are now out to cause problems for Disney Transportation...

With the number of Disney buses needed to move people around WDW, the odds are that these accidents will continue to increase. Disney needs to look at other ways to move people and reduce the number of buses on the roads.
