Isn't this just part of a larger refurb of all the canals around Epcot?

Photo update as of Friday, September 4, 2020. The new bridge over the canal should be open within a matter of days, which means the Epcot Resorts Boulevard that makes a loop around the Epcot resorts will be reopened after about 9 months of construction. The road is paved and striped. Construction crews were putting the final touches on the bridge. This view is from across the road, looking back at the Beach Club Villas.

The new bridge has a protected walkway on the resort side, connecting the sidewalks along the road.

As with the original bridge, it is very close to the patio areas and balconies of some Beach Club Villa rooms. In order to build the new weir in the canal on the other side of the bridge, many of the trees on the opposite side had to be removed, so there is less "forest" to be viewed from these villa rooms. The backstage of Epcot is still obscured by the existing tree line. (There is no structure in the water, that is a reflection of the underside of the bridge.)
