Can you cancel a HS Park Reservation if you miss out on ROTR?

If you miss out on ROTR at 7am, can you cancel your HS park reservation and book another park for that morning? (right now only Epcot is still open)

You can switch your park pass to any other park that has availability.

Alternatively, if you have parkhoppers, you can "tap in" to HS at any point - even just for a moment (if ROTR is a priority, why not tap in before 1pm and at least try for the 1pm Boarding Group pool, which is easier to get than the one at 7am since fewer people are eligible to try for it?) - and then head elsewhere after 2pm (technically subject to capacity restrictions, but so far there's been no issue with anyone hopping to a "full" park).

You can do it from your bed. Be sure to get in as quickly as possible. DS counted down the seconds before 7:00 on his Apple Watch and hit the button exactly at 7. Waiting even a few seconds too long will ruin your chances.

Do you have to be physically in the park to try for the 7am ROTR boarding or just for the 1pm?
Only for the 1pm one. As @JIMINYCR said, the 7am one is available to anyone with a valid ticket and park reservation for HS that day, no matter where they're located. In fact, it would be impossible for any guest to be in HS at 7am as it generally doesn't open until 9am anyway.

I highly recommend doing some "training" runs ahead of time on the dot of 7am. If you get "stopped" in the joining process after clicking through the party member screen because of a message saying your party doesn't have valid park passes (rather than stopped by a message saying boarding groups are already full), you're doing it correctly, and fast enough, and would have succeeded in obtaining at Boarding Group (barring a glitch) if it was your HS day.

To add, you don’t actually need to be in DHS at 1pm to try. You do however need to have a park reservation for DHS that day AND have already tapped into the park by that time.

It is fine to have left DHS and be somewhere else at 1pm.

You CAN, but if you're awake anyways and Epcot is the only park that's available, you'd probably be better of to go click into Hollywood Studios, do some rope drop stuff with no wait, and then hop to Magic Kingdom or Epcot at 2.

Corollary. As long as you're in HS, try to book ROTR at 1pm. Of course, that will drive your schedule whether you get ROTR or not after that.
