No, not really. IMO any movie that takes place DURING Christmas but doesnt make the theme around Christmas, shouldnt be considered a holiday movie.

I can't remember if there is even a reference to Christmas in the movie or the novel. The family moves in to the hotel to look after the place in late fall before the snows arrive, but how long into winter do they last before all heck breaks loose & they have to bail?

I don't think it makes a reference to the date. But it's been snowing quite a while by the point Jack loses it.
