Is it worth it? My fiancee and I are thinking about going there for a weekend and all we're gonna do in the parks is go to MNSSHP. Is it worth it to go camping and just do stuff at the resort and DTD?

Absolutely!! In addition to what was posted above you can also visit the other MK resorts and rent one of those little boats that zip across the water (don't remember the name). There's plenty to do and you're in DISNEY!!

I have camped in may diffent camp grounds across the country on one of my many x-country trips and Fort Wilderness is still my fav campground by far. Clean, senic, fireworks from the beach and semi private spaces.

The amenities they have available for campers are some of the best I've ever encountered. You could spend the entire weekend at FW and not feel as if you've lost out by not visiting the parks.

We're considering doing something similar Sept 2012, but for a week! I think we'll experience Disney in a whole new light. If you do it this year please post how it goes.

I'm really sorry that my next trip I will not be staying at FW. I love hearing the boats blow their horns and looking at all the campsite decorations. I love the first morning boat ride over to MK. I close my eyes and take a deep breath in and all my senses know where I am.

The BEST vacation I ever had @ Disney was at Ft. Wilderness. We stayed last year for 12 days in an RV and would definately stay there over a Deluxe/Villa anytime. While it is nice to stay at rooms/villas, it just doesn't have the same feel as the campground. It was both fun and relaxing. You truly have the best of both worlds there.

I love camping and have always wanted to do this. If I was to camp rather then stay in a hotel room, I wouldn't want to go into the parks (although I like that you will be going to the MNSSHP) but rather just hang out and enjoy Fort Wilderness.
