Buy 4 Get 3 Free

Am I the only one who is not too crazy about the 4/3 offer? When I first heard about it, I thought it was great but consider:

1) The MYW tickets are priced such that you pay considerably less the longer you stay. Thus, a 4-day base ticket is $219 while a 7-day ticket is $228, a difference of only $9.

2) We have stayed several times in the spring at the value resorts for $59/night. Current rates for the same time period are $105 during the week and $115 for the weekend. Taking into consideration the 4/3 offer, that works out to be $61/night.

What am I missing?

A deal like this is a greater deal the higher the room price is. So if you're staying in a value resort, you won't reap the benefits of the promotion as much as someone staying in a deluxe resort. 7 nights for the price of 4 in a $100 a night value room, you're saving $300. But if you're staying in, say, the Ft Wilderness Cabins at $315 a night, it's a savings of $960. I think it's a great deal, myself, and I hope that they are still offering it next year in April when we hope to go. But I'm not planning on staying at a value either...I'm really wanting to stay at the Cabins and if not the cabins, then a moderate resort.

Any extensions on the gift cards?

There are rumors that the gift card will be offered for stays at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs.

Someone on MouseOwners.com saw it on the Disney website in a now you see it, now you don't posting that seems to be happening of late.

With the $500 pin code are the room rates discounted? Or are they just giving you a gift card as a incentive to book?

A prediction here that I hope doesn't happen -- come spring Disney has a splashy media announcement where they extend this offer for the rest of the year as a 'gift' to give everyone 'reason to celebrate at WDW' during these tough times.

Think of the good press they'd get for that, though!

(And it would probably provide the incentive I would need to visit in early December!)

I am guessing that you have a reservation booked at rack rate for that time frame? If you do just call them and ask them to see if it can be applied to the reservation.

Why do you hope this doesn't happen?

Offered has been extended through 8/15 (on the Disney.com site), and there is a $100 gift card for staying in OKW or SSR. That's still not enough to draw us there, given the high cost of tickets. Maybe we'll see some decent room only deals in this doesn't spike attendance enough.

Sounds good to me

Listen, if they extend the offer its a sign the company is not doing well. And its also a sign the economy is still slumping (which it will be). But im all for giving me 3 nights free, will let me stay at the Contemporary or something crazy which I normally would never be able to do.

Its a sign that the resorts aren't as full as Disney wants them to be.

I know I see threads on this and other boards stating that many resorts, for certain dates, are still difficult to get into...with or without the discounts.

But passholders can still book something like this. You just go with the 1 day base ticket and then use that ticket towards your AP renew next year.

Yes, sort of.

I called to change the reservation we had for July at Port Orleans Riverside and was told we could use the code but the week we wanted to go, those rooms allotted weren't available for Riverside. I was given a choice of French Quarter or Caribbean Beach and we were able to get FQ with a waterside view. We ended up saving close to $575 dollars and we can always just walk over to Riverside to use their facilities.

I'm a passholder. So, If i don't use the ticket how do I get that as a credit for my ap renewal? Can the ticket be removed from my room key?
