Bus Help for SSR

Hi - we will be going to SSR this December, and we need a great bus strategy! My little girl is in a wheelchair, and we are staying in the preferred sections, which means the last two bus pickup stops. WHICH, most likely means the wheelchair spot will be full.

I don't want to wait for forever for there to finally be a bus with empty w/c spot. What are some strategies to help us not wait for 8 buses to go by?

Request a room location near the beginning of the bus loop.

Firstly I think bus drivers will radio in if you’ve been waiting a while.

You could request to be in The Springs area, and walk around to The Paddock bus stop. Although that’s still the third stop.
Is there a path over to the Grandstand area? I know the road loops around but maybe there’s a quicker way over.

Are you likely to be rope dropping the parks? Unless you’re travelling at the really busy times it might not be as much of an issue.

Can you switch to a Standard?

For what it's worth they relatively recently added buses to the fleet where the entire bottom half is hypothetically wheelchair spots. The seats all pull up, I think they can fit four at once? You might get one of those.

I never noticed any pattern as to where they sent them, though.

The Grandstand is the first stop to the parks and the first stop back from
The parks,it has a pool by the bus stop request to be by the pool,
We always stay there with are grandkids, the pool is not zero entry but a short walk

Yes the drivers are very accommodating. They will call out that a w/c guest has been waiting. It's Disneys policy that if a w/c user is loading a seated guest in a w/c designated spot must give up their seat in order for the w/c to load in. We've had some very irritated guests complain having to give up a seat but the drivers insist they move out.
Disneys fleet have increased available seating because more scooter and w/c users are riding now more than ever.
If you have a reservation somewhere that you need to get to, and time is critical, there are the w/c accessible Mickey vans that can be reserved at a cost and there are Uber and Lyft w/c vans also available.

We also have a preferred room reserved that is accessible and I was wondering the same thing
I will be pushing my wife in her wheelchair around the world and am looking forward to the calories burned!

Hopefully we will get closer to the first bust stop. I will have our 2 young grandchildren with us and they are very helpful.

You have to decide which is more important - being in a preferred room or being close to the first bus stop. If it is a greater concern of assuring that the bus has room for a wheelchair, then request a room near the first stop. I have never seen a situation where all the available wheelchair seating has been taken forcing someone to have to wait for another bus. I have though seen a situation where the bus is full and skips a stop.

Yes it has happened and it happens a lot more often now since more scooter users have been in use. The buses provide only so many spaces for w/c and scooters to be parked and strapped in. A w/c bound person does not get preferential space... its who is first in line that gets the spot. If its full when they pull up the driver will apologize that there's no room for another w/c and the he or if a CM is present at the station, will call in for another bus. Of course the more crowded dates and holiday times will have more riders.
